Prince William’s cousin Zara Phillips, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, the 12th in line to the throne, and her boyfriend, England rugby star Mike Tindall, got officially engaged after he popped the question at their home in Gloucestershire on Monday (December 20).

Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of Phillips’s parents on Tuesday morning, which read: “The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Zara Phillips to Mr. Mike Tindall, son of Mr. Phillip and Mrs. Linda Tindall.”

The 29 year-old Zara promptly shared the happy news with close family and friends right after the 32 year-old proposed, so the couple didn’t have time to discuss a wedding date yet.

Zara’s cousin, Prince William also recently officially announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton. The biggest royal wedding of the century is set for April 29, 2011.
