Former American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis may not have won big on the TV show, but he has taken the gold medal in his personal life — the singer and Angel Reed welcomed their first child together on Thursday.

Malena James was born just an hour shy of Christmas Eve. The little present weighed in at 6 lbs, 11 oz. and 19 inches long — the perfect size for a gift of that nature!

Constantine tells People:

“Sometimes Christmas comes early and we’re so lucky to get the greatest gift a few days early,”

“Angel and I are thrilled to welcome our perfect baby girl into the world today. Mom and baby are healthy and I couldn’t be more excited to ring in 2011 this way.”

Constantine and Angel met while starring in the Broadway musical, Rock of Ages.

Congrats to the couple on their little bundle of Christmas joy!! We can’t wait to see her — and wonder if she’ll have dad’s hair.
