Carlina White PHOTOS, VIDEO: Kidnapped Girl Reunites with Family After 20 Years
Carlina White has finally reunited with her biological parents, Joy White and Carl Tyson, and family as she returned home after being kidnapped more than 23 years ago (more pictures + watch video below).
The worried parents took their feverish 9 day-old baby to Harlem Hospital’s emergency room, where she was kidnapped by an unknown woman, who had been walking around as a disguised nurse for weeks, and mysteriously disappeared on August 4, 1987.
Carlina, who was given a new name, Nejdra Nance, was raised by a family in Atlanta, but as she grew up she became very suspicious because she didn’t have a birth certificate of a social security card. Carlina felt like she did not belong to that family and there was no biological resemblance.
So, Carlina decided to search the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children for her birth year when she saw her baby picture and a composite of how she would look at 19 years old. She called the center’s hotline to ask for help on finding out who she really was.
Finally, Carlina, who is also a mother of a 5 year-old girl named Samani, met her biological family this weekend. This is a beautiful story with a happy ending that took more than two decades to happen.
“It was wonderful, she didn’t even seem like a stranger, she just fit right in,” Elizabeth White told the Associated Press. “We all went up there, we had dinner together, her aunts were there. She brought her beautiful daughter. It was magic.”
“I’m just so happy she’s back. I said, ‘you’re going to get so many hugs! You’re going to be sick of us.’ She said, ‘you know what, I never had hugs like that.’ I’m just happy she’s back. Thank you God thank you Jesus. I don’t want her to ever go back I want her to stay here,” Lisa White said.
The authorities are currently investigating Carlina’s kidnapping case, but they still do not have a solid suspect since she could have lived with different families as a child and have no recollection of certain events.

This is a beauty family and such a wonderful happy ended. And im glad it ended this way hate you had to go threw this Ms. Carlina but now that you have your wonderful parents now, enjoy threw to the fullest you have such a beautiful baby by the way. I am a mom from the bronx ny with a daughter that was around the same age as Carlina. I saw the flyers in Jacobi Hospital 23 yrs. ago and never forgot about her cause my little girls name is Carla and the closeness in their age. I often thought about her and wondered if she was ever found. I often spoke of her to my daughter always wondering about her. I got the shock of my life while watching tv and asw she was found and reunited with her family. I imediatly called my daughter to tell her of the best news ever. I cried tears of joy for her parents at last they are all reunited. God Bless them at this joyous time. Praise the Lord. LOVE TO THE FAMILY!!!!!
