Natalie Portman announced the news of her engagement to choreographer and Black Swan co-star Benjamin Millepied in late December. The actress is quite shy and reserved, and I’m sure she hasn’t been running around pushing her new sparkler in every cameraman’s face, so we’ll do it for her.

The devoted vegan’s new ring, which was designed by her fiance, is said to be eco-friendly. The ring is made of recycled platinum, an antique center stone and accenting pavé diamonds taken from a conflict-free mine. The vintage-inspired piece was created by Jamie Wolf, a ballet dancer turned jewelry designer.

Wolf said:

“Ben was exceptionally thoughtful and dedicated and patient to make sure we had everything right. We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie.”

Millepied was so pleased with the ring that he even arranged a cameo in Black Swan for the designer.
