Former “Full House” star Jodie Sweetin was surprised by her baby daddy, Morty Coyle, with a proposal which included the typical engagement ring during her 29th birthday party held at the Kibitz Room in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (January 18).

“It was a complete surprise,” Sweetin tells PEOPLE. “We are just thrilled and I am in shock still! I was glad that everybody was there. People videotaped it, it was great.”

The 29 year-old mother-of-two claims the original 2½-carat oval sapphire, surrounded by 18 diamonds in a snowflake shape engagement ring “is so beautiful”. Jodie was happy to share this moment with family and friends, including the couple’s 5-month old daughter Beatrix and her 2 year-old daughter Zoie, whose father is her ex-husband Cody Herpin.

“We are in no hurry as far as dates or anything like that,” says Sweetin, who adds that gay marriage rights factor into their decision to wait. Adds Coyle: “We want to wait until there’s equality for everybody to get married.”

And if that day doesn’t come anytime soon? “That’s okay,” says Sweetin. “We were absolutely committed before this, anyway. We’re just so excited.”

Adds her new fiancé of their happy news: “Just because we weren’t married doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve a ring.”

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Jodie and Morty want to wait for the perfect time to get married, but that does not mean they aren’t already enjoying the pleasures of parenthood and life together.

On not calling herself an actress yet: “Well, come on. How cheesy does that sound? I can’t say ‘actress’ unless someone says I’m halfway decent at it.”

Advice for men: “Men need to learn to put everything on the table. Just put everything on the table. And when it comes to the game playing, enough… With females… With women, when you’re in your twenties, it’s all about game playing. Men could get ahead of women if they’d just throw everything out on the table. Cut to the chase.”

To men in their 20’s: “In their twenties men just want, want, want, want, want. Don’t make everybody deal with your want all the time. It gets so old. You know? I don’t want to change anybody. But there is that. After twenty-five, it’s just throw the ego out the door.”

Hollyscoop had access to topless pictures of a girl who looked a lot like Selena. The girl had shorter hair than Selena’s has currently and the photos were taken by an unknown person inside a bathroom.

The pictures in question were not bought by the site because they could not determine whether the alleged “Selena” was over 18 years old at the time. Obviously, Selena’s camp is furious: they claim the photos are fake and were Photoshopped by someone wanting to ruin the “Wizards of Waverly Place” star’s reputation.

Selena’s lawyers are getting ready to take immediate action, sending out “cease and desist” letters and threatening to sue anyone who publishes the images. Correct me if I’m wrong. I think it would be of their best interest to prove those images are fake.

Actress Hilary Duff, who recently married hockey star Mike Comrie, is absolutely ecstatic to be expecting the couple’s first child, according to Star Magazine. The 23 year-old New York Times bestselling author is about seven weeks pregnant.

American Idol season 9 contestant, Alex Lambert, confessed to his followers on Twitter that he was “kinda of homeless” since the Hulu reality show, “If I Could Dream”, created by Simon Fuller, ended back in October. Alex sounded a bit pathetic making everyone believe he is in a difficult condition, when in reality he is simply working hard to make his dream come true.

Alex tweeted, “Alright so I didn’t want to bring my person life to my fans but I’m about to freak out if I don’t tell yall the truth! Ever since IICD ended I’ve been kinda homless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.I have a choice to stay and persue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I’m usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore.”

“I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have! I’m a poor boy yall! Never had nothin in my life. please be greatful for everything you have. Because there’s people out there with nothing! I just want my fans to know that I’m not an American Idol type person! There are many things I can’t share with yall because you’d probably think I was a hooligan haha. There’s no way i’ll ever stop making music as long as i live.. I didn’t mean it like that! I just want yall to know the truth!”

Poor Alex! Well, Idol’s production company 19 Entertainment released a statement to explain the big misunderstanding. Alex is NOT homeless! The rep claims, “He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month. He’s working on demos. He’s with writers, he’s working on music. He’s not homeless. How could he be texting? How could he be going into recording studio and sleeping on the streets? There’s no record deal yet, but hopefully these demos something could come from that.”

Alex’s earlier “poor” and “have nothing in my life” version of events was promptly explained by the former Idol contestant as a misunderstanding. He took to his Twitter to clarify his “homeless” situation.

Alex tweeted, “O my goodness yall! I have been crashin behind buidings and sleepin outside but I dont want nobody to feel sorry for me! I’m a grown ass man. I’ve had so much help out here in LA! I just want oto do things on my own! I have places to stay I just don’t want to be a burden on anyone! I have money! And soon I will have a place to stay! I just wanted to let yall know! I’m not some rich spoiled kid! That I’ve had to hustle and grind and I don’t mind sleepin on the street as long as I get my chance! Because I will not take it for granted! I hope yall understand.”

Adding, “Sorry for the miscommunication;) I’m just fine! MAHALO!”

So Alex went from poor homeless boy to I have money, but I’m not a rich spoiled kid with a big mansion in Hollywood. Alex lost a golden opportunity to keep his mouth shut, or should I say, to stay away from trouble and Twitter!?!

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom are parents! The couple welcomed a 9 lb. baby named Flynn on January 6.

Miranda shared the details of her intense birth on her blog, where she also shared a picture of her son nursing. She said:

“I gave birth to him naturally; without any pain medication and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it. I could not have done it without him,”

“We are so happy and are enjoying our time together as a family. He is our little ray of sunshine. Thank you everyone for your beautiful well wishes and your lovely thoughts.”

The couple married in June, though they had been dating since 2007. Cute! Welcome, baby Bloom!

Sargent Shriver — Maria Shriver‘s father — died Tuesday after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

The family released a statement on January 18, which said:

“Our dad, Robert Sargent Shriver, Jr., lovingly known as ‘Sarge,’ today went to heaven to join the love of his life, our mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver. He was surrounded by his five children, five children in-law, and his 19 grandchildren,”

“He was a man of giant love, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment. He lived to make the world a more joyful, faithful, and compassionate place. He centered everything on his faith and his family. He worked on stages both large and small but in the end, he will be best known for his love of others,” the statement continues. “No one ever came into his presence without feeling his passion and his enthusiasm for them. He loved God, he loved Eunice, he loved us, he loved anyone who was a servant of peace, justice or joy. He loved life.”

At one point in his life, Sargent headed the Special Olympics. Maria once spoke very highly of her late father:

“I watched children study famous people in history. I always thought they should be studying my father. In my family, everybody talked about what we are doing to change the world. And Daddy would say, ‘How can I do all this in a responsible, ethical, honest way?’ And he always managed to do it.”

Sounds like he lived a great life. R.I.P. Sargent!

Actress Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse, best known as the host of HGTV’s “Carter Can” and “Red Hot & Green”, are apparently dating since they were seen getting cozy and kissing at an Art of Elysium event in Los Angeles, California over the weekend.

“They have lots of common interests,” says another source. “It’s still pretty new, but they seem to be having a blast together.”

Carter and Amy were apparently made for each other and they have a whole lot in common. The 34 year-old actress previously dated actor Braden Williams for more than ten years. Congratulations to the new couple!

Denver Broncos star Laurence Maroney was arrested since he was totally high and in possession of a firearm when cops spotted him and five friends smoking some pot inside a parked vehicle in St. Louis on Monday night (January 17).

The police arrested five of the six people involved and three firearms (two handguns and a rifle) were discovered in the car. The 25 year-old running back was arrested for possession of marijuana and unlawful use of a weapon. Laurence had a valid permit to “Conceal and Carry”, but not while he was under the influence of drugs.

Laurence’s rep had released a statement saying, “Mr. Maroney was unlawfully arrested for possession of weapons. He holds a permit to carry a concealed weapon and he had his permit on his person when he was arrested.”

The rep added, “He was not arrested for any drugs nor was he involved in a high speed chase. He was released without being charged with any offense and we do not anticipate he will be charged with any criminal offense.”

Laurence has already been released, but he will most probably have a lot to explain to the Broncos.
