Singer Katy Perry presented her California Dreams Tour for the first time in front of a big, excited, screaming crowd at Campo Pequeno Arena in Lisbon, Portugal on Sunday (February 20). The 26 year-old performed all the songs from her new album “Teenage Dream” (except “Hummingbird Heartbeat”) and a few classics from the 2008 album, “One Of The Boys”.

At 8 pm sharp, DJ Skeet Skeet took over the stage to warm up the crowd with hot remixes for everybody –from Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” for wild 16 year olds (I even saw a girl under 10 singing along!!) to Dirty Dancing’s “Time Of Our Lives” for the mommies and daddies in the audience. After 40 minutes, Skeet Skeet said goodbye to the crowd asking us to do not forget to follow him on Twitter and “friend” him on Facebook [see video filmed by DJ Skeet Skeet in Lisbon HERE].

Less than half an hour later, the California Dreams Tour started. The theme is Katy Perry in Candyland – there’s a girl who must follow the Kitty through Candyland to finally be with her true love, a super hot cupcake boy, but she must first defeat the big bad mean butcher. The three pink screens above the stage told the story, which is pretty entertaining while Katy takes a moment to breathe or/and is changing outfits.

California Dreams was fun, energetic and colorful. Katy was absolutely fantastic – she sang, danced and interacted with the audience. There were lots of beautiful and wonderful moments, which included mimes, bubbles and acrobats.

The show started with “Teenage Dream” and ended with “California Gurls”. In the end, Katy returned to the stage to sing Whitney Houston’s hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and picked several fans to get up on stage, where they embraced her, kissed her and disappeared.

I had seen Katy on stage a couple of years ago, but this was incredible. There was a huge evolution from a girl and her guitar with a cute set behind her and a girl with a story and lots of special effects and backup dancers. California Dreams Tour is a 15 out of 10 experience.

Katy kicks off the show with her “Teenage Dreams”, picks up her guitar to rock out to “One Of The Boys” before “Waking Up in Vegas”.

Two naughty mimes join Katy on stage while she sings “Ur So Gay” and she takes a bite of their magical brownie. The singer makes a wardrobe change on stage, trading her skirt for a spectacular “Peacock” tail.

Katy seems to be a little high while singing a “vintage” version of “I Kissed A Girl”. Purple becomes the dominant color during this set, which includes songs like “Circle The Drain” and “E.T.”. In “Who Am I Livin For?”, Katy is chained to four male dancers, creating a spectacular effect.

NOW. This is probably my favorite performance of the night. There are two acrobats up in the air while Katy sings “Pearl” and the whole scene is simply beautiful. Bubbles start falling during Katy’s performance of “Not Like The Movies” on a swing, followed by “The One That Got Away”.

Katy offers the fans a medley of her favorite songs at the moment, which include Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World)” and Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair”. She also takes the opportunity to wish Rihanna a happy birthday.

Katy goes through multiple wardrobe changes on stage while singing “Hot N Cold”, followed by “Last Friday Night”, which includes several pictures from Katy’s fans who sent her images of their Friday night via Twitter. Katy dedicates “Firework” to the fans and says goodbye with the hit “California Gurls”.

After much screaming, Katy returned to the stage to sing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
