2011 Oscar Winners: Who Wins the Academy Awards?
Who Will Win The Academy Awards tonight? During the 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony, the much-desired golden Oscar statue will be given to the best of the best in movies over this past year.
The awards season leads up to the big night in Hollywood. So, we have a pretty good idea of who might take home the Oscars, but we expect a few surprises to keep things interesting.
Next, I’m going to tell you who’s going to win, who should win and why in Bumpshack’s Oscars 2011 Predictions for the most important (and less technical) categories below. Although I’m not exactly an expect, I’m a movie lover and I’ve seen pretty much every movie nominated (except “Winter’s Bone”).
Bumpshack’s Oscars 2011 Predictions – HERE We Go:
Check Bumpshack’s Oscars 2011 Predictions after the jump:
Actor in a Leading Role
Javier Bardem in “Biutiful”
Jeff Bridges in “True Grit”
Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network”
Colin Firth in “The King’s Speech”
James Franco in “127 Hours
And The Winner Is: Colin Firth
Who Should Win? Jeff Bridges
Why? Jeff Bridges vs. Colin Firth – Jeff won the battle last year and took his buddy Oscar home, so it’s most likely Colin finally wins one too. In my opinion, this year, Jeff was the best actor – he played an absolutely incredible, fantastic and three-dimensional character in “True Grit”. On the other hand, Colin did the best job he could with all the stuttering.
Colin has won every other award there was to win, so the Oscar is his.
Actor in a Supporting Role
Christian Bale in “The Fighter”
John Hawkes in “Winter’s Bone”
Jeremy Renner in “The Town”
Mark Ruffalo in “The Kids Are All Right”
Geoffrey Rush in “The King’s Speech”
And The Winner Is: Christian Bale
Who Should Win? Christian Bale
Why? Is there any doubt Christian Bale is a damn good actor? The guy has some anger issues and stuff, but I believe that’s what makes him so passionate about his work. Christian clearly delivered the best performance from this group of actors. Sorry, Geoffrey Rush.
Actress in a Leading Role
Annette Bening in “The Kids Are All Right”
Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”
Jennifer Lawrence in “Winter’s Bone”
Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”
Michelle Williams in “Blue Valentine”
And The Winner Is: Natalie Portman
Who Should Win? Natalie Portman
Why? Simple. Natalie won every award possible for her intense and dramatic performance in “Black Swan”. Annette Bening is a great actress, but I was a bit disappointed with the movie “The Kids Are All Right” and her character was lacking something. Passion maybe.
Actress in a Supporting Role
Amy Adams in “The Fighter”
Helena Bonham Carter in “The King’s Speech”
Melissa Leo in “The Fighter”
Hailee Steinfeld in “True Grit”
Jacki Weaver in “Animal Kingdom”
And The Winner Is: Melissa Leo
Who Should Win? MILA KUNIS!!
Why? Melissa Leo will probably easily win this after so much promoting and a$$ kissing. Helena Bonham Carter should get your Oscar! No matter who wins – Mila Kunis, who wasn’t even nominated (blasphemy!), was without a doubt the best supporting actress this year. Mila and Natalie’s scenes in “Black Swan” were out of this world. Natalie didn’t do it all by herself!
Animated Feature Film
“How to Train Your Dragon” Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois
“The Illusionist” Sylvain Chomet
“Toy Story 3” Lee Unkrich
And The Winner Is: Toy Story 3
Who Should Win? Toy Story 3
Why? Because I believe everybody watched this movie. From little kids to parents, grandmas and pets. The public loves it. My dog is a major fan of Toy Story. No kidding.
Directing
“Black Swan” Darren Aronofsky
“The Fighter” David O. Russell
“The King’s Speech” Tom Hooper
“The Social Network” David Fincher
“True Grit” Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
And The Winner Is: David Fincher
Who Should Win? David Fincher
Why? Oh, why? David Fincher has no competition in here. OK! If Darren Aronofsky or Tom Hooper takes the Oscar, I’ll be eating my words. This could be one of the big surprises later tonight…
Foreign Language Film
“Biutiful” Mexico
“Dogtooth” Greece
“In a Better World” Denmark
“Incendies” Canada
“Outside the Law (Hors-la-loi)” Algeria
And The Winner Is: Biutiful
Who Should Win? Biutiful
Why? Javier Bardem. Do I need to say more? Penelope Cruz’s baby daddy is a good actor no matter what language he is speaking… he could be silent and still be the best actor! He even makes miracles happen and “Buitiful” deserves to win. (Well, I haven’t seen the other movies in this category… this is a safe choice either way!)
Music (Original Song)
“Coming Home” from “Country Strong” Music and Lyric by Tom Douglas, Troy Verges and Hillary Lindsey
“I See the Light” from “Tangled” Music by Alan Menken Lyric by Glenn Slater
“If I Rise” from “127 Hours” Music by A.R. Rahman Lyric by Dido and Rollo Armstrong
“We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3″ Music and Lyric by Randy Newman
And The Winner Is: “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3″
Who Should Win? “Coming Home” from “Country Strong”
Why? Toy Story 3 is the favorite. However for the simple fact Gwyneth Paltrow can actually sing and sound pretty country, she should take the Oscar home. Anyway, this is not what Best Original Song is about, so Toy Story 3 without a doubt.
Best Picture
“Black Swan” Mike Medavoy, Brian Oliver and Scott Franklin, Producers
“The Fighter” David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Mark Wahlberg, Producers
“Inception” Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan, Producers
“The Kids Are All Right” Gary Gilbert, Jeffrey Levy-Hinte and Celine Rattray, Producers
“The King’s Speech” Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, Producers
“127 Hours” Christian Colson, Danny Boyle and John Smithson, Producers
“The Social Network” Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca and Ceán Chaffin, Producers
“Toy Story 3” Darla K. Anderson, Producer
“True Grit” Scott Rudin, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, Producers
“Winter’s Bone” Anne Rosellini and Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Producers
And The Winner Is: “The Social Network” (AH!)
Who Should Win? “Black Swan”
Why? This is the most important award of the night and I’m sure we will be shocked with the result. “The King’s Speech” won every award for Best Movie, but it’s still kind of a foreign movie… British actor, British story and a British tale of perseverance. “The Social Network” is an all American movie about the most popular social networking site in the world. So I’ll take my chances and say it will win tonight. (Remember “Crash” in 2006? No one thought it would win!)
