According to Deadline, there will be one surprise appearance by actor Billy Crystal, one of the most popular previous Oscar hosts, who will deliver a sarcastic monologue aiming the movie industry.
Music returns to the Oscar stage as the Best Original Songs from the movies are presented. Here are the performers and songs in order of appearance:
- Randy Newman – “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3
- Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Alan Mencken – “I See The Light” from Tangled
- Florence Welch and A.R. Rahman (replaces Dido) – “If I Rise” from 127 Hours
- Gwyneth Paltrow – “Coming Home” from Country Strong
- Celine Dion and William Ross’ orchestra – “Smile” (In Memoriam segment)
- New York City/Staten Island School PS 22 student choir – “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard Of Oz (closing ceremony).
