After the launch of his new church and introducing a bill to decriminalize polygamy in Congress, Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton), who is about to go to jail for statutory rape, is shot dead by his disgruntled neighbor, leaving his wives struggling with new challenges and questions about their future (see video below).

Barbara (Jeanne Tripplehorn) looks for spiritual help at a liberal church. Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) is considering leaving the family and going on a medical mission in South Africa. Nicki (Chloe Sevigny) is trying to repair her relationship with her daughter Cara and the other sister wives.

After Bill’s death, the bond between the sister wives become must stronger and they are all living a better life, recognizing that they could have not found happiness without Bill in their lives. THE END.
