Pia made daddy proud! Jennifer Lopez was speechless for a moment before saying Pia managed to top last week’s performance. Steven Tyler loved it (of course!). Randy Jackson claimed Pia has the power to tackle those big songs and she really hit all the high notes.

This girl is talented. But Celine Dion again on Idol? Really? Please no. Enough with the cheesy songs. I don’t think I can take any more… any more…. By the way, that dress is totally hideous (that sheet on her back needs to come off for it to look good).

Steven Tyler warns Paul that was a little pitchy, but loves his character and the rasp of his voice. Jennifer Lopez doesn’t know who Ryan Adams is. SERIOUSLY? Ugh. Randy Jackson expected more from Paul and hope American gets it.

That was not Paul’s best performance. In the beginning of the song, Paul sounded terrible. He picked it up and brought it home. I love how he moves on stage. It’s quite entertaining and he’s having fun up there.

What the heck happened there? Randy Jackson must be out of his mind – he liked it! Steven Tyler wants to see more of her, while Jennifer Lopez simply said Ashthon looked elegant up there and showed how professional she is. Blah.

YAWN. Boo-ring! I don’t see it. Ashthon’s voice is way too small for the big powerful songs. She also needs to prove she has a better taste in music because Diana Ross is so “old school”. Ashthon brought nothing new to the song. It was like watching a karaoke performance at some underground karaoke bar. I miss Simon Cowell!

Finally, the judges ask for more – more energy, more attitude… a bit more talent pushed to the limit. Lauren just had so much fun singing this song that she is disappointed with the comments she got from the three judges. As Jennifer Lopez said, the competition has finally started.

The judges need to stop kissing a$$. That was a pretty “forgettable” performance. Lauren seems to be a little country diva in the making and I’m not sure it’s in the good sense of the word. She also needs someone to tell her that outfit didn’t do anything for her.

American Idol Season 10 Top 13 finalists (Top 10 + 3 Wildcards) will battle on the Idol stage for the next Idol title on Wednesday (March 9), but one will be forced to leave the competition each week.

2011 American Idol Season 10 Top 13 Finalists Revealed!

The fabulous 13 (6 guys and 7 girls), who are all currently living in the big Idol mansion, picked songs from their favorite artist for the first elimination show (this week, the show was pre-taped and next week, Idol goes LIVE!).

Idol producer, Nigel Lythgoe, announced on Twitter, “The #AmericanIdol contestants put their vocals on full length tracks yesterday. I believe they will be on #iTunes after the show has aired?”

One Idol wannabe will get the boot on the live results show on Thursday (March 10). Check what the contestants will sing in their first big show below.

Washington Post’s Pulitzer Prize-winning political columnist, David Broder aka the Dean of Washington, has passed away due to complications from diabetes at Capital Hospice in Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday (March 9). He was 81 years old.

Broder was described as someone who set the standard for political coverage in the USA. Former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Broder “set the standard for modern political reporting and analysis. … Everyone who cares about self-government owes a debt to David.”

President Barack Obama also issued an official statement:

“Like so many here in Washington and across the country, Michelle and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of a true giant of journalism, David Broder. David filed his first story from our nation’s capital before starting as a junior political writer on the 1960 presidential election.”

“In the decades that followed, he built a well-deserved reputation as the most respected and incisive political commentator of his generation – winning a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of Watergate and earning the affectionate title of Dean of the Washington press corps.”

“Through all his success, David remained an eminently kind and gracious person, and someone we will dearly miss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult time.”

Subway was founded in 1965 and went international in 1984.  The chain generated over $15 billion dollars of revenue last year. That is a lot of $5 footlongs.

Former Alice In Chains bassist, Mike Starr, who was found dead in his home on Tuesday (March 8)- more details here-, was reportedly mixing methadone and anxiety medication in a desperate attempt to stay sober.

According to the roommate, Mike had been using methadone and taking medication to control anxiety issues since he was arrested last month (mug shot here). Mike was doing a good job managing his medication, but he might have accidently miscalculated the effects of those drugs when mixed together.

Mike’s roommate said, “Mike was a beautiful person who was fighting to stay sober … I am going to miss him greatly.”

Ironically, Mike was reportedly determined to get clean and start a new life. The official cause of death has not been determined yet, but it will most probably be related to a medication mix up.

Mel Gibson’s got lucky! The 55 year-old actor has reached a plea deal in the domestic violence case involving his baby momma, Oksana Grigorieva, avoiding a messy court battle and escaping jail.

Mel is ready to plead no contest to a charge of misdemeanor battery and the punishment will probably just include counseling and a probation period. Mel is said to be relieved to finally put an end to this and spare his family from further anguish.

The actor’s lawyer, Blair Berk, said in a statement on Wednesday (March 9):
