DJ Megatron (real name: Corey McGriff), best known as a regular on BET’s “106th and Park”, died of a gunshot wound to his chest as he walked to a store near his home in Staten Island, New York on Sunday morning (March 27).

The 32 year-old was reportedly shot around 2 am. Megatron was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made yet, but the police is currently investigating the case. Regg Rocc, the manager, released the following statement:

“Mega’s family is grateful for all of the condolences and warm thoughts of his fans and friends. Please continue to uplift your prayers of support as an ongoing investigation is currently being conducted by law enforcement officials.”

R.I.P. DJ Megatron.

Ironically, rapper Rick Ross and Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Peters were both arrested in separate incidents in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday night (March 25)- see mug shots above.

Cops were called to the rapper’s hotel because there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from his hotel room. Rick was arrested after they discovered approximately a gram of pot in plain view.

As for the NFL star, he was arrested for a loud music violation and resisting an officer after being asked to turn down the music in his car and show his ID several times. Jason refused to obey the police officer. Stupid decision.

So what is the connection between these two men? The rapper was set to perform at a nightclub and the NFL star was one of his celebrity guests.

Earlier this week, Natalie Portman‘s dance double for Black Swan, principal dancer at ABT, Sarah Lane, spoke out against the Oscar-winning actress and FOX Searchlight Films, claiming she was part of a cover up for the film. Following the comments, the film’s choreographer and Natalie’s fiance, Benjamin Millepied, came forward defending the actress, along with a second dance double for the film.

Lane told Entertainment Weekly:

“They wanted to create this idea in people’s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar. It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I’ve been doing this for 22 years…. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you’re a movie star?”

“I mean, from a professional dancer’s standpoint, she doesn’t look like a professional ballet dancer at all and she can’t dance in pointe shoes. And she can’t move her body; she’s very stiff,”

This weekend, in response to the controversy, FOX Searchlight released a statement, saying:

“We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film,”

Will we ever know the truth? Probably not. But if you’ve seen the movie, you can tell where Portman is dancing and where’s she not. And it’s not like she’s denying that she had a double. What’s the big deal, Lane? Jealous?

In a move that seems a bit rushed, the Tennessee Vols have hired Cuonzo Martin as the new men’s head basketball coach.  Martin will replace Bruce Pearl who was fired last week.

Martin played his college ball at Purdue and spent the past three seasons coaching Missouri State to a 61-41 record.

“The charges, if successfully prosecuted, could result in up to 10 years in prison on the misappropriation-of-ID charge. A forgery conviction can carry an 18-months’ sentence.”

Friday, Michaels filed a law-suit in L.A. County Superior Court against Tony Award Productions, CBS, and others for unspecified damages, claiming that the incident with the scenery caused his life-threatening condition.

In the complaint, Michaels says the producers of the show did not instruct him how to properly exit the stage, leading to him being “smacked” in the head by the scenery.

Following the show, the singer was treated for a cut lip and broken nose. The hemorrhage didn’t take place until six months later. The suit states:

“One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma — exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out….

George Lopez had some not-so-friendly words for Dancing With the Stars competitor Kirstie Alley after she made her debut last Monday. He even went as far as to compare her to a dancing pig. As the Twitter war raged on between the two, it was clear Lopez had backed himself into a tough spot.
