CBS Evening News anchor, Katie Couric, is rumored to be ready to leave her anchor post after less than five years to host her own syndicated show as soon as her contract expires on June 4, 2011.
According to TMZ, the 54 year-old journalist hasn’t officially quit CBS for now, but she is ready for new challenges as she feels that her role as CBS Evening News anchor hasn’t given her much freedom as a professional.
Katie reportedly has no hard feelings toward CBS and is willing to stay at the network, if they give her what she wants – her own talk show and to be more active in the news operations. The anchor is reportedly in negotiations with several networks, including CBS, NBC and CNN.
Katie Couric’s official departure announcement should be made in the next few weeks. Sources guarantee she will be leaving CBS Evening News for good. The anchor plans to start a syndicated show in September of 2012.
