Katie Couric hasn’t even left the building yet and CBS already found her replacement for “CBS Evening News”. CBS News Chairman, Jeff Fager, wants Scott Pelley, a veteran journalist who currently works as a “60 Minutes” correspondent, to take the job.
Why is Scott Pelley the right person for the job? Apparently, CBS honchos love Pelley’s work and they do not have anyone else in mind. The CBS Evening News anchor position is a big opportunity for Pelley to take one huge step in his career.
As for Katie Couric, she is ready to move on and she had made her decision before Jeff Fager became chairman, which doesn’t mean he wouldn’t love to replace her. Fager reportedly wanted Couric out of CBS Evening News, but agrees Katie should have her on syndicated show on CBS.
Katie is currently still in negotiations and she hasn’t decided to which network she is going to take her own show. Congratulations, Scott Pelley!
