Journalist/TV personality, Meredith Vieira, is reportedly leaving The Today Show as soon as her contract expires in September 2011 to take care of her husband, CBS News journalist Richard M. Cohen, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. Richard also had colon cancer.

“NBC is doing everything they can to convince her to stay,” an insider told TV Guide.

NBC doesn’t confirm Meredith’s departure, but sources say she will leave this year or next year to focus on her family. If or when Meredith leaves, Ann Curry is expected to take her place as a co-host of The Today Show.

The 57 year-old replaced Katie Couric on Today Show, when Couric became the anchor of CBS Evening News back in 2006. Ironically, Couric is also expected to quit the Evening News to get her own syndicated show.
