Director Sidney Lumet Dead At 86
Director Sidney Lumet sadly passed away after a long battle against lymphoma at his home in Manhattan, New York City on Saturday (April 9). Sidney is survived by his fourth wife, Mary Gimbel, two daughters, nice grandchildren and a great grandson.
The 86 year-old, who was nominated for Best Director five times but never won, directed some classics like “The Verdict”, “Network”, “The Wiz”, “Serpico”, “12 Angry Men”, and “Before the Devil Knows Your Dead”.
Sidney Lumet finally received his honorary Oscar in 2005 at the age of 80 from the hands of actor Al Pacino, who received Oscar nominations for his work in Lumet’s movies (“Serpico” and “Dog Day Afternoon”).
