“Teen Mom 2†star, Leah Messer, has officially filed for divorce from her baby daddy, Corey Simms, in Kanawha County, West Virginia last week, only six months after they tied the knot.
The 18 year-old mother of twins, Aliannah and Aleeah, and Corey dated for one month before they found out she was pregnant. They broke up after the twins were born in 2009, reconciled six months later and the 20 year-old dad proposed after only a couple of weeks.
“Everything Corey and I have done has happened so fast,” Messer recently told Us. “I didn’t want to jump into something else and be like, ‘Oh, s**t! What did we do?’ Three years ago, back before I was pregnant, I never thought I’d be married now. I was scared because a lot of people who marry young end up divorcing within a year.”
Corey and Leah did rush into things. There was plenty of time to get married. They are just two kids, who now have the responsibility of raising their two daughters, and probably needed more time to adjust to parenthood before getting into marital issues.
“My mom and dad married, divorced, remarried and divorced again,” Leah said. “I don’t want my girls [Aliannah and Aleeah, 16 months] to go through that. My mom talked to me because she wed at 16 and didn’t want me to go through a divorce like she did.”
Leah and Corey reportedly fought about money and how to spend it. Corey wanted a new truck, Leah wanted a new home and their babies, especially Ali who was born with several disabilities, actually need the money to pay their medical bills. It’s complicated!
“They are not in a good place right now,” a source tells Us. “Their friends are hoping they find a way to make it work.”
