Country star/actress LeAnn Rimes and her boyfriend, actor Eddie Cibrian, have officially tied the knot in a very intimate wedding ceremony attended by only 40 guests (closest family and friends) at a private estate in Malibu, California on Friday (April 22).

“LeAnn and Eddie were happily married today surrounded by their closest family and friends,” the bride’s spokesman, Rhett Usry, confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. “They thank everyone for their well wishes.”

LeAnn and Eddie convinced their guests they had been invited to an engagement party, but surprised them when the 28 year-old bride, who recently confessed to be eager to settle down and start a family, walked in wearing a Reem Acra wedding gown.

The ceremony was attended by Eddie’s sons, 7 year-old Mason and 4 year-old Jake, from his first marriage. This was also LeAnn’s second marriage. The 37 year-old actor proposed to the singer with a 5-carat diamond ring by Brent Polacheck in December of 2010.
