The Middleton’s Chip In $425,000 For Royal Wedding
British taxpayers may have helped pay for the royal wedding, but the bride’s family didn’t get off without having to chip in on their daughter Kate Middleton‘s wedding to Prince William.

Taxpayers spent over $34 million on the event, while the Middleton family chipped in $425,000 themselves. How did they spend that money exactly? Here, I’ll explain: The family booked over 71 rooms at London’s Goring Hotel for friends and family for two nights, costing them $144,500. Next came the two parties at the Goring: one the night before and one the night of the royal wedding, which set them back another $42,500.

And let’s not forget THE dress; Kate’s Alexander McQueen bridal gown cost the Middleton’s a pretty penny and so did her second reception gown. Together, they cost $68,000. The new Duchess of Cambridge was also sporting a pair of diamond earrings at $25,500 for both ears.

Kate’s sister Pippa and her mother Carole‘s jewelry, as well as the gold pins worn by dad and Kate’s brother Michael cost $51,000.
I wondered while I was watching who paid for what and how all that nonsense works out when you’re marrying a royal. Nice to know. Take notes for my marriage to Harry, mom.
