NBC’s The Voice Premiere: Blind Auditions, Teams Recap (Videos)

NBC’s new talent show, The Voice, hosted by Carson Daily premiered on Tuesday (April 26)- recap and videos below. The judges/coaches, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, have their backs turned while the contestants sing at their first auditions.

That’s why it’s called a blind audition. The four judges have to decide if they want to coach the contestants exclusively based on their vocal skills. They have no idea of what they look like. If the judges like The Voice, they have press the button that turns their chair around.

If only one of the judges presses the “I Want You” button, the voice is automatically on their team. If more do the same, the judges battle it off and the contestant has to make the difficult decision of picking their team, also picking by who they want to be coached.

Each coach/judge has to pick 8 singers for their team. That’s the end of round 1. The coaches have some time to train their contestants before they go face to face in pairs to the sing off (boxing) ring in round 2 of the competition.

At the end of round 2, the coaches will have to eliminate 4 of their singers and chose the four best contestants to go through to the next round. The 16 contestants picked by the coaches will compete for the title of The Voice in normal elimination rounds voted by the people at home. PHEW!

THE VOICE winner will take home $100,000 and a Universal Republic record deal.

The judges are funny, funky and very competitive. I really liked it. The contestants are not what you expect… they are different and the type of people that would most likely be mocked by other shows like American Idol, which doesn’t mean they aren’t super extremely talented.

EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Barker Liles, Taylor Swift’s Crush Responds with a Song

After Taylor Swift released her now six-times platinum album Fearless last year, her hoards of tween fans had just one question.

“Who’s Stephen?”

Swift revealed that the object of her affection in the aptly titled song, “Hey Stephen” was none other than Stephen Barker Liles, of the country music duo Love and Theft, who toured with Swift in 2008.

And the feeling was definitely mutual.

Liles recently released “Try to Make it Anyway”, his follow up to the Taylor tune.

In an exclusive interview with Bumpshack, Liles recalls, “We both wrote the songs back in 2008.  Taylor called me up to tell me that ‘Hey Stephen’ was going to be on her album and I was like, ‘That’s so weird; I just wrote a song about you two weeks ago!’”

Swift’s camp is yet to comment on the song, but the music video, directed by Nashville filmmaker Aaron Thomas and featuring barefooted, handsomely scruffy Liles, is sure to have Taylor swooning in no time.

Liles says that with Swift’s recent string of bad luck in romance, she deserves a guy who will write a song for her.  ”She’s a really sweet girl; I just hope she likes the song.”

Lady Gaga on how her fame is sometimes overwhelming…

Ellen: I know it’s a struggle for all of us. Especially if there’s stuff that happens when you’re younger. You’re constantly dealing with insecurities or feeling you’re worthy of all of this adoration that you get. But I heard that you, in the new HBO special that you were calling your self a loser. Is that right?

Lady Gaga: Well, in that moment I was very excited and nervous. That is a huge benchmark moment in my life. I’m 25 years old. I was asked to play Madison Square Garden. Sold out 5 nights and quite frankly it’s very overwhelming. Do I feel like a loser sometimes? Yes, of course I do. We all feel like losers sometimes.

Lady Gaga: I’m very upset about your entrance. I feel like you’re trying to out do me. I’ve never done the shoe.
Ellen: If you did a shoe. It would be a better shoe than mine.
Lady Gaga: I liked the shoe. It was very unexpected. I like unexpected.
Ellen: Thank you. I am influenced and inspired by you but I don’t think I’ll ever try and compete with you.

Lady Gaga on how she wakes up in the morning…

Ellen: When you were here last, I said, what do you sleep in? Do you have pajamas and you said you sleep in whatever you’re wearing.

Lady Gaga: It’s very funny.

Ellen: Like you’ll sleep in that (what she is wearing.)

Lady Gaga: It’s very funny and my best friends who often will crash at hotels where I’m at. They will come visit me on the road they always call me a Beauty Queen disaster. I wake up and my wigs falling off my head. My mole is on the other side of face. My fake mole, it’s not fake it’s surreal.

Lady Gaga: Yes that it true.
Ellen: Congratulations.
Lady Gaga: Thank you.

RHONYC Countess LuAnn’s Tips on How to Catch a Royal

Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City is finally using her failed 17-year marriage to French Count, Alexandre de Lesseps for more than just PR leverage. The Countess is doing her part to give back to the poor, the disenfranchised, the downtrodden – the average American woman.

With Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptuals just around the corner, the Countess has offered her advice to Popeater on how to bag a royal husband in seven easy steps. Her best tip?  Don’t act like a commoner.

In other words, fake it ‘till you make it.

“You must be comfortable with who you are. Kate Middleton is a great example of a commoner who just has such good energy and is so positive. That is really attractive to a royal.”

In an interview with People, de Lesseps discussed how she learned to be royalty and her reasons behind becoming the second Real Housewife to release a single.

“My book Class with the Countess is about my journey in life and how I learned to be elegant. I translated that into song, so I talk about how money can’t buy you class, but elegance can be learned… It doesn’t matter where you’re from — anybody can be classy.”

Though her intentions are good, the Countess’ tips and lyrics on nabbing a man leave much to be desired:

Money can’t buy you class
Money can’t buy you class
Elegance is learned, my friends
Elegance is learned

No, money can’t buy you class, but it can buy you a custom gown designed by some of the world’s greatest designers.  Just saying…

Pia Toscano & Mark Ballas “I’ll Stand By You” On Dancing With The Stars (VIDEO)

American Idol season 10 cast off, Pia Toscano, sang “I’ll Stand By You”, while her rumored boyfriend, Mark Ballas, and Karina Smirnoff performed a beautiful choreography on the dance floor at Dancing With The Stars week 6 special results show on Tuesday (April 26)- watch video below.

Pia is a great singer. She is gorgeous. But she absolutely bores me to death. I have no clue what people see in her. I’d rather torture myself with some Celine Dion. I’ll Stand By You” is the song that basically created the overhyped singing sensation that is Pia Toscano (watch idol video here).

As soon as she was eliminated from Idol, Pia started milking the media machine with a publicity stunt relationship with pro ballroom dancer, Mark Ballas. I’m so sick of hearing Mark and Pia went on another date, Mark and Pia kiss, Pia meets Mark’s mom. Please!!

Constantine, who received a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, is absolutely fantastic. I can’t believe he only got the sixth place on fourth season of Idol, which was won by Carrie Underwood. Constantine has also recently became a daddy (photos here).

Kirstie said the TV Land comedy is “sort of Virginia Woolf,” but added:

“I have some people writing [a potential series] for me for HBO. But I really want to do movies.”

She also added that she wouldn’t mind making an appearance on ABC’s Modern Family:

“I wouldn’t mind popping in, but I really want my own show. And I really want my own movies. I’m selfish, what can I say?”

Kirstie has made quite the comeback. I’d love to see her back on television and in movies. Have you seen Drop Dead Gorgeous? Priceless!

Repo Games Shooter, Carlos Barron, Arrested For Attempted Murder (Mugshot)

The stars of “Repo Games”, repo men, Josh Lewis and Tom DeTone, were shot at by a crazy man after they knocked on someone’s door to play a trivia game at around 9 pm in North Las Vegas on Monday (April 25). Three doors down, an angry neighbor pulled a gun and began shooting at them.

Unfortunately, no one was hit by the gunfire, but why shoot at the production crew? Spike TV’s “Repo Games” is a reality show that offers people the opportunity to win their repossessed car back (dept free!) if they manage to answer three out of five trivia questions correctly.

A SWAT team and cops were called to the scene and surrounded the suspect’s home before taking him into custody. The gunman identified as Carlos Barron had several firearms inside his home and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation.

According to the police report, Carlos decided to shoot at the Repo team because they had parked right in front of his house while taping a new episode of the show. Carlos tried to talk to crew members. They called production’s security and that’s when the man snapped and opened fire as he retreated back to his home.

The 40 year-old gunman was arrested and charged with attempted murder assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing a police officer (see mug shot above). Ironically, “Repo Games” premieres tonight at 8 pm on Spike TV.

Dancing With The Stars Week 6 Results April 26: Who Was Voted Off?

Who Was Eliminated on Dancing With The Stars? Tonight, another celebrity and their professional dance partner will be forced to leave the competition after a night dedicated to guilty pleasures on Monday (April 25).

Mike CatherwoodWendy WilliamsSugar Ray Leonard and Petra Nemncova already left the dance floor. Who’s next? Find out who was voted off on Tuesday (April 25) after the jump below.

2011 Dancing With The Stars Season 12 Cast (Bios, PHOTOS)

There was an interesting turn of events as Chelsea Kane and Romeo take the lead with the first 10’s of the season, while early favorites, Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio, continue to lose momentum, and the early “winner” Kendra Wilkinson continues to fail to deliver a less than mediocre or classy performance.

Who’s Your Favorite Dancing With The Stars 2011 Couple? (POLL)

The original Karate Kid seemed to be ready for his big comeback, but fate betrayed him when his partner Karina Smirnoff tripped and fell on the dance floor during their Paso Doble, which included a couple of Karate Kid moves (watch video here). Ralph saved their performance by remaining calm and assuring Karina it was okay.

Karina Smirnoff Falls, Ralph Macchio Nails Paso Doble On Dancing With The Stars (VIDEO)

Who will be in jeopardy tonight? Chris Jericho seems to have lost some energy required to tackle a Tango. Chris took the bottom of the leaderboard and will most likely be in jeopardy tonight. I’m going to take a risk and say Kirstie Alley and Kendra Wilkinson will join Chris.

I seriously hope we get to see a lot more of Ralph. He is absolutely incredible and he has the sweetest, kindest and humblest personality ever. That is certainly not common in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Chris should be the celebrity dancer getting the boot tonight.

Dancing With The Stars 12 Week 6 Scoreboard:

  • Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas: 28
  • Romeo & Chelsie Hightower: 28
  • Hines Ward & Kym Johnson: 27
  • Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 26
  • Kendra Wilkinson & Louis van Amstel: 25
  • Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff: 24
