Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Knock Offs

We all knew the world was set a buzz about Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress the moment their engagement was confirmed. Now that the world has seen it, knock offs of the now famous Alexander McQueen/ Sarah Burton design are taking over.

Many designers who make dupes for the originals started sketching the gown as soon as they saw it. Designers like Michelle & Henry Roth who sell their creations to the famous Kleinfeld Bridal Salon are some of the few who are making a dupe. The dress will be called Kate’s Dress and will be couture. The dress will not be the exact duplicate, but very close to the original.

I am so happy that Kate’s dress is being copied. I hope this changes the current trend in wedding gowns that we have seen for the past couple of years. What do you think about designers copying the royal wedding dress?

WHY can’t the duplicate be an EXACT duplicate? Has the palace ordered that it cannot be an extact duplicate? Even if it did –does that have any bearing in the USA?

The things I like best about the dress are the lace on the top, the sleeves, (hooray!), on the top, and the beautiful symetry of the folds in the skirt. The train is gorgeous, too — and just the right length for people who do not go down an aisle as long as Westminster Abby’s! The only thng I don’t like about the now Countess of Cambridge’s wedding dress is tht it had a Slightly too low decoltee and tht the skir wasn’t quite wide enough. Otherwise, it’s a dream of a dress. Maybe such things as shortening (or lengthing!), the train, making the train end in a point, rather than a semicircle, changing the design of the lace, having the skirt and bodice meet in a “V” formation, rahter than the straight formation on the original, and making a slightly higher decoltee, could differentiate the original from the copy….and STILL keep ALL of the original’s beauty!
