In an interview with Time, comedienne Kristen Wiig revealed that she’ll be retiring two of her most famous characters from Saturday Night Live: Gilly and Penelope.

The actress, who will be seen in the upcoming big screen comedy Bridesmaids, said that it was her decision to put the characters to rest, and she won’t be bring the one-upper Penelope or troublemaker Gilly back–even at the request of her boss, executive producer Lorne Michaels.

In the article, Michaels praised Wiig, comparing her to some of the show’s greatest performers:

“There are two people who arrived fully formed — her and Dana Carvey — where you saw what they did in their audition and you put it on the air. She has that thing that Phil Hartman and Dan Aykroyd had, which is absolute precision, but also this lightness that isn’t what they had.”

He also added that she’s one of the ”top three or four” performers in the show’s history.

Wiig is my favorite on the show. I’m a HUGE fan. I hate to see these characters go, but we all know she’ll pull something else crazy out. Just don’t get rid of the Target lady!
