Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell are officially uniting again! Abdul has been confirmed as the fourth judge for Cowell’s American version of the X Factor.
Abdul, 48, will join previously announced music executive Antonio “L.A.” Reid and British pop singer and U.K. X Factor judge Cheryl Cole. The show has held auditions in Miami, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago. The winner of the talent competition will win $5 million. DANG! Does typing count as a talent?!?
In a statement, Cowell, 51, said:
“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this – I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show.”
In her own statement, Abdul said:
“I am excited beyond words to be a part of The X Factor. I couldn’t be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show.”
“[I] know that it will be an extraordinary journey – we’re going to have a blast. I’m also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again … but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!”
For all you haters out there, you need to know upfront that I’m a DIEHARD Paula fan. I’ll become obsessed with this show in no time–just because she’s a judge. Thanks for bringing her back, Simon!
