Boxing legend, Oscar De La Hoya, has voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility in Southern California, for “treatment to address certain health and personal issues.” Â In a statement released to TMZ, De La Hoya addresses his personal issues,
After doing an honest evaluation of myself, I recognize that there are certain issues that I need to work on. Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I do not want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws. Throughout my career and my life, I have always met all challenges head-on, and this is no different. I am confident that with the support of my family and friends, I will become a stronger, healthier person.
With all the celebrities who enter rehab because of a court order or after getting in trouble with the law, it’s refreshing to see De La Hoya take his life into his own hands. Â Although, I suppose it would be more refreshing if he wasn’t checking into rehab at all. Regardless of why he’s there, the Olympic gold medalist as asked his fans “for respect and privacy” as he and his family deal with this recent decision.
Considering you retired from boxing back in 2009 Oscar, my love, I don’t think that will be a problem.
