Actor Christopher Meloni is reportedly leaving NBC’s police drama “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit†after 12 seasons. The 50 year-old, best known as Detective Elliot Stabler, has been on the show for twelve glorious years since it began back in 1999.
Apparently the actor was negotiating a new contract, but they have not reached a deal and he took the difficult decision to not return for the 13th season.
This is the end of an era on “Law & Order: SVU†as actress Mariska Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson, is also said to have only signed for the first 13 episodes of the new season.
We have no information about Detective Stabbler’s fate, but Detective Benson is finally getting promoted, and actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is set to replace her on the show.
