Pittsburgh Steelers star Hines Ward and his partner Kym Johnson, who recently suffered a serious neck injury during DWTS rehearsals (see video here), were crowned the winners of Dancing With The Stars Season 12 on Tuesday (May 24)- watch video below.

The NFL star was the best dancer and performer throughout the season. Hines was always super light on his feet, highly energetic and enthusiastic. There was no doubt Hines is the fair winner after he delivered two incredible dances, a fun quickstep (video) and a very creative freestyle (video) on the final live performances show on Monday (May 23).

As soon as Hines learned he would take the mirrorball trophy home, he thanked Kym, who he is rumored to have more than just a friendly relationship, the judges for the constructive criticism, and, most importantly, the fans who continued to believe him and voted for him every week.

Hines said, “I owe it all to Kym. She’s an amazing teacher. I also want to thank the judges… and I want to thank all the fans. I love Steeler nation. I hope of I’ve represented well for the city of Pittsburgh.”

Chelsea Kane, who the judges had recently been pimping for the finals, left in a disappointing third place, while fan favorite, actress Kirstie Alley and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy got second place. Maks was clearly frustrated, but for Kirstie it was all a great achievement.

Kirstie said, “This is the most extraordinary adventure I’ve ever been on in my life. My dress is half the size it was when we started… I have a lot more strength and stamina.”
