Avril Lavigne’s Tampa Bay Tirade
Arvil Lavigne isn’t an angry teenager anymore – she’s matured into one pissed off adult.
The 27-year-old divorcee threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field last night before a throughly disinterested crowd of 18,000 people – in a stadium build for 45,000 mind you.
While we can forgive Lavigne for throwing like a girl, because, well, she IS one, we cannot forgive her expletive-laced post-show concert, in which she hurled a slew of four-letter words at the handful of people who hung around to hear her play.
Apparently, the songstress’s mic wasn’t working at the top of her set and when fans became restless, she lashed out by throwing some choice phrases into the audience.
According to a Ray’s spokesperson,
The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night’s show. It is not consistent with the family-friendly atmosphere that Tropicana Field is known for.
Some of Avril’s fans have spoken out on the singer’s behalf, saying her tirade wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular and that Ray’s officials overreacted.
Eh. I’m with the Rays on this one – I’m not particularly interested in paying money to be verbally berated by a Canadian with outdated pink hair, but hey, that’s just me.
