Conservative writer Ann Coulter has said her fair share of controversial nonsense, but her latest comments about Princess Diana on The Insider seem to take the cake.

Coulter, speaking on the world’s obsession with the British royal family, criticized the outpouring of emotion that followed Diana’s death in 1997:

“I find it a little baffling when Americans get so gaga-eyed over a princess. In particularly Lady Di, who was just this anorexic, bulimic narcissist.”

Despite her negative feelings toward the late Lady Diana, Coulter did admit that she had been somewhat charmed by Prince William‘s new wife Kate Middleton, who she said “seems like a lovely girl.”

I can’t even pretend to like this woman. I can’t stand what she stands for or what she has to say. But this was really sinking to an all new low. Really? Going after a woman who’s been dead for more than a decade? Give me a break. Go pick on a politician, ya bully.
