Actress Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, was right by his former girlfriend, model/actress Alexis Knapp’s side when she gave birth to their love child, a healthy baby girl on Friday (June 1).

The 36 year-old actor had absolutely no doubt he is the father of this baby since he did not even ask for a paternity test. Ryan seems to be working on being the best father he can be, and he was right there in the delivery room to show his support to the mother of his child.

Explains a source of Phillippe’s presence during the birth: “He is a good father, and whether this is his baby or not, he wants to do the right thing and be supportive.”

Alexis dated Ryan for a couple of months, before breaking up in September of 2010. In March 2011, Alexis could not hide the protruding baby bump, but she stayed numb on the identity of the father. The 21 year-old new mom allegedly never asked Ryan for any help.

As for So Undercover actress Knapp, “she has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it,” her rep told Us. “Alexis has maintained her silence and will continue to do so. She continues to appreciate the love and support of her family and friends.”

Ryan is known to be an excellent daddy to his kids. He has two children, 11 year-old Ava and 7 year-old Deacon, with the “Water For Elephants” actress, who married Jim Toth in a private ceremony in March 2011.
