First ‘Bond Girl’ Linda Christian Dies
Linda Christian, the first ever ‘Bond Girl,’ has died in Palm Desert, California, after battling colon cancer at the age of 87.
The actress is best known for her role as the main love interest Valerie Mathis in the 1954 TV adaptation of Casino Royale, playing opposite Barry Nelson as James ‘Jimmy’ Bond. She also starred in the 1944 Danny Kaye musical Up In Arms and in the 1948 film Tarzan and the Mermaids.
Christian’s breakout role in the Bond film eventually paved the way for actresses such as Ursula Andress, Denise Richards and Halle Berry.
She is survived by her daughter Romina Power, as well as eight grandchildren.
Christian was stunning! RIP.
