Dancing With The Stars first transgender contestant, Chaz Bono, and his partner Lacey Schwimmer, have been rehearsing nonstop to prepare themselves to rock the dance floor. Although it has only been a week since they started dancing together, Chaz is already making progress and quickly shedding some weight.

“When I first met him, he didn’t want to do anything that made him look silly,” Lacey revealed. “Now he’s all for it. He’s goofing off and he’s pretending to be Maks [Chmerkovskiy] in rehearsals. It’s really funny.”

“He’s lost five pounds in six days,” she says. “It’s so great. He says he’s not eating any differently, he’s just dancing.”

Lacey had only good things to say about her partner, who she describes as shy and sweet. Chaz only made one crazy demand to appear on the show – he does not want to dance to any of his parents’ songs. Other than that, Chaz is all game.

“He’s such a great guy,” the professional dancer says. “He is so nice, and he’s such a kind person. He’s awesome. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner this time.”

“Chaz has already told me he doesn’t want to dance to any of his parents’ songs,” Schwimmer says of Bono’s iconic singing mom and dad duo, Sonny and Cher. “But the show really wants it to happen, so we’ll see.”

And what do we want more than Chaz dancing to the sound of “I Got You Babe”? We want mama Cher cheering for her son, formerly known as Chastity Bono, in the audience.

“Rumor has it that Cher wants to come to the show,” Lacey says. “So I hope that’s still in the works. I’d love to meet her.”
