The twelve new celebrity dancers and their professional dance partners finally took over the dance floor to show their dancing skills for the first time at the Dancing With The Stars season 13 premiere on Monday (September 19). J. R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff danced the Viennese Waltz to the sound of “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson (watch video below).

The Iraq veteran turned soap star’s story is just so inspirational. After all that happened how he still manages to smile and dance is so incredible. I cried my heart out watching that performance, and I’m not even embarrassed to admit it. That was so touching and beautiful.

This is my favorite performance of the night. Len Goodman agrees with me. Bruno can’t wait to see J. R. shaking his hips to the Latin rhythms. Carrie Ann Inaba was touched by the performance, saying he was able to offer such strong emotional quality in that one dance.
