The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was spotted out Monday evening at her local Topshop on Kensington High Street shopping right before the store closed.

The newlywed shopped the store for thirty minutes before waiting in line with her selections: a polka-dot skirt (only available in UK stores), and a cobalt blue jacket with velvet trim (you can see it HERE, but naturally it’s now sold out), and a pair of gold-effect leaf earrings that cost just $10 and change. Her total came to $170. Thrifty spending, Kate!

The Topshop employee who assisted her told reporters:

“She was low-key and casual – she seemed so normal. She was really chilled out despite some customers in the queue behind her saying, ‘Oh my God it’s her’ and pointing – she didn’t seem fazed by it all and she was really sweet.”

No one approached the royal bride, who gave the store no prior warning that she would be coming in. The staffer added:

“I haven’t seen her before so I don’t think she’s a regular but she lives at Kensington Palace, just ’round the corner from here so it makes sense.”

Kate is scheduled to appear Thursday with her husband, Prince William, at the opening of a children’s cancer center at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
