DWTS Feud: Maksim Chmerkovskiy vs. Judge Len Goodman

Dancing With The Stars pro, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, went a bit too far with his remarks towards judge Len Goodman after he and his celebrity partner, soccer star Hope Solo, delivered what was probably the most boring and dull performance during a night dedicated to Broadway on Monday (October 24).

YAWN: Hope Solo Broadway Rumba On Dancing With The Stars (VIDEO)

Watch Maksim and Hope’s lukewarm Rumba performance HERE. Len started to say he hasn’t lost faith in Hope, adding, “I always feel like there is so much there, and for some reason it hasn’t come out. This is your worst dance of the season in my opinion.”

Obviously, Maksim was not happy with this opinion. Len: “I’ve been in this business for 50 years,” and Maksim sharply retorted: “Then maybe it’s time to go!” [video here]

Oh snap!

Len was totally right when he blamed the pro dancer for the extra lame performance. Maksim also accused the judge of being too judgmental when his job is to judge the contestants on the show. What?

“She [Hope] is improving,” the Ukraine Bachelor star insisted. “That is the point. I’m extremely proud of her. This is the first time she came out and she did exactly what she planned and there was no stress and no tension and it was a great performance. And I really liked dancing with her tonight. And to get comments that was the opposite of what it was, it wasn’t even upsetting, it was more like, ‘I have had enough!’ You have an opinion. I also have an opinion…The judges will say, ‘Hey, this is show business, this is supposed to be fun.’ Well, I had fun tonight.”

When asked if his fellow pro-dancers backed his opinion on the subject, Maks said, “Not all of them [share my opinion]. Most of them, yes. But there are a few of them that actually went up to the judges and for some reason went as far as apologizing for me and disagreeing with what I said.”

What do other pro dancers and celebrity dancers think about the feud between Maksim and the DWTS judge:

Derek Hough: “Sometimes you do take things personally…I did that one time with Shannon Elizabeth. I went off. And I thought, ‘Oh my goodness, I can’t ever do that again!’ I felt like the judges have been incredibly generous this season so I was surprised.”

Karina Smirnoff (Maksim’s ex-fiancée): “We danced right after Maks so I just wanted to make sure that the judges made sure that we didn’t concur with Maks’ opinion…He needs a hug.”

Lacey Schwimmer: “He spoke his opinion and he should be allowed to do it.”

J.R. Martinez: “He did go a little too far with it, but it is what it is.”

David Arquette: “I’m usually harder on myself than the judges.”

Hopefully, Maksim will eventually learn some manners and learn to respect the judges’ opinions even if he strongly disagrees with them. Maksim did not express his opinion, as Lacey so delicately put it, he was just plain rude. David Arquette’s comment just makes me love him even more. What a classy gentleman.

The judges on Dancing with the Stars seem to be forgetting more and more what this show is all about. It is professional dancers teaching non-dancer celebrities, and seeing the improvement from week to week. The judges offer little in the way of constructive critism, instead choosing to stoop to the level of personal insults towards the celebrities and their instructors. Time to get new judges who can offer constructive critism, without making fools out of celebrities, who are working so hard. Change the judges or cancel the show.

DWTS used to be a great show. Now I’m sick of the self-righteous judges and the obvious favoritism to people who can’t dance but have famous mommies. Chaz should have been gone the second week. Len and Bruno have been very rude this season. The “fan” vote shouldn’t count for so much of the score. DWTS has turned into a ridiculous popularity contest between those who can muster up a huge fan base and those who can’t. I hope the entire show goes down the drain. It has certainly lost my interest.

Max was completely justified with his comments. The all-too-often rude judges (particularly the old Grinch) forget that this is an entertainment show, that the contestants are NOT professionals, and are NOT auditioning for a job. Max’s words echo the feelings of lots of us viewers. Bravo to Max!

I can understand Maks comments, he works darn hard to teach someone to dance , and most importantly make Them look good! not him! He knows he is good , and has no need to promote himself!, I think judge Len, is feeling left out a bit, and wants to spice up his image by becomming ” controverseal” like Mr, Tonioli. So hes been in the buissness 50 years, he should know by now that contuctive critisism tempered with encouragement is the secret, the way judge Len has been acting as of late is more like a tired old judge suffering froma case of Andropaus, Maks words were a bit strong granted, but he has no reason to apologize

Maksim had a point! Judges treat Chaz with kid gloves, especially when Cher was there. They just gushed over him and he is a terrible dancer. He should have been gone a long time ago! If Chaz wins, I am done with the show. Everything Maksim said is true. They treat each star on a different level. But I still love the show. But judge folks – judge equally – thats your job. Don’t sugarcoat for some and be mean to others. Hope is 100% better than Chaz but they have reamed her and been so sweet to Chaz – until last night. About time to tell him he can’t dance. It’s like they are afraid to be negative to him. And it’s always been like this. Don’t change anything – except being fair in judging. But I still love the show!

Are you crazy?? He didn’t go to far, the judges went to far. They are the ones that need an attitude adjustment in what is a reality tv show, not a REAL dance competition. The judges pick their favorites and they coddle them all through the season. They jump up and pretend cry when someone they like is voted off by the fans and they bully the ones left with rude comments. Example: Bruno: Penguin to Chaz…how judge like. Let’s have one season where Maks gets a “popular” celebrity that’s gung ho to win, just like Derek gets and then let’s see what Derek says to the judges. I would have liked to see Derek work with Kate…ha!
Len is too old and grumpy and most night doesn’t even agree with the other two judges, who are allowed to tell Len off…hmm, double standard anyone.

Cheers to Maks for standing up for his partner and knowing this is reality tv not a live or die dance competition. If they want it to be more real then make everyone equal. All from the same profession, same weight class, same backgrounds and don’t let the “fans” vote.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy was totally wrong and went way overboard with his comments. They were extremely rude and disrespectful. Dancing with the stars is NOT HIS SHOW as he put it, he is simply an employee plain and simple. As for the judges, they are there to judge the performance including the choreography, performance and content or lack thereof. If maks can’t take the criticism them maybe its time for HIM to leave and go back to where rude behavior is acceptable. Len was totally correct and justified with this lack luster performance.

I thought the Maks/Hope dance was far and away the best dance of the night, it was the only one worth watching in my opinion. I guess it just depends on who’s opinion you ask. I always fast forward through the judges comments so I wasn’t aware of what was said. I’m glad I skipped it, and more the reason to skip the judges in the future!

I thought what Maks said was right on! The judges are definitely hard on some and not on others. There needs to be consistency! If you are going to give that low of scores for Hope for heel leads, then what about the horrible tecnique of David, Nancy, Chaz etc. The judges have not liked Maks and Hope from the beginning and it’s obvious. Yet seem to baby and tip toe around others.

I personally didn’t think Maks was so wrong. Did he go about it wrong? Maybe a little. I think the judges go a bit far at how cruel their remarks are. Carrie Anne is very good with hers, because she gives positive feed back and then will go into things that could be improved. I don’t think it is necessary to belittle these dancers. Like Bruno comparing Chaz to a penguin. I know that their controversary remarks makes for sensational TV though. I find their remarks could be done in a more classy and tasteful manor. After all, the score the dancers receive from the judges lets us know how well they felt the dancers did. From a dedicated fan of every season.

Maks is Maks and is totally entitled to his opinion. However, national television is not the place for a forum. I agree that the celebrities are not pro’s and while they should be willing to accept constructive criticism, rude comments such as Bruno’s”comment to Chaz that he danced like a penguin, are uncalled for. The judges need to judge on content and technique, and the pro’s need to remember this is a DANCE competition after all. No viewer wants to see harsh words flying around. We watch because we are amazed at the courage the celebrities bring to the floor each week, the unbelievable talent that each of the pro dancers brings with his/her choreography, and the tough job the judges have to deal with, when they know criticism is often taken personally and the MOB on the set is out to get them. Let’s get back to doing what you all do best – DANCE WITH THE STARS!!! I look forward to tonight! Love you all…

There is always a time to arrive and and time to leave. The comments made by Maksim last night were beyond arrogance. For him to think that DWTS is successful because of him is both ludicrous and uncalled for…get rid of this guy before he destroys the show! It is really a shame that Hope Solo drew him as a partner.she deserves better.

I do not agree with Max that he made Dancing with the Stars become a hit program. He was a nobody that became somewhat popular due to this program, period end of sentence. As far as I am concerned he takes away from the show. He is a good dancer, but his bad attitude is a detriment to the show. I would LOVE to see him kicked off that show and replaced with another dancer who shows respect to his dance partners and judges alike. He is not a good choreographer, does not know how to style a dance to bring out the best from his guest partner, and has the attititude that he is gods gift on Earth.

There are so many willing dancers, just as talented who would give their right arm to dance on this show. Please replace him, for at least one season. Maybe then he will learn the word respect.

Good for Max !!!! I’m suprised no one has done that already. Len is a grouchy old man that finds fault with everybody except himself ! The people dancing on this show, are not dancers, they are everyday people like the rest of us and he talks down to them like they were mis-behaving children !!! I believe the judges have made up their mind already as to who they want to win, and even though I have no proof, I firmly believe they manipulate the outcome. Some of the dancers that have already been sent home have been 10 times better than some of the ones that are left. Chaz Bono for one example. Give me a break !

Maks is incredibly egotistical and he wounds with his words every single partner that is chosen for him. He cares only about himself, his image, his wants. He was way of out li ne talking to Len the way he did. He’s a hurtful person because he sees himself as better than anyone else. I did not enjoy hearing his rude words and disrespect for Len. He is an angry man, and this is not the first time for him.
Actually I have been wanting to write in and share my dismay with Mak continually goosing Tom after all these seasons. I have never missed a show, and I am sick of seeing Mak and his childish antics.
One last thing. Chaz really needs to go. Carson was a great addition to the show and should have been there still.

Hooray for Max! The judges have become overbearing in their attitude toward the celebrities, rude and incencitive comments. Remember these people have never danced before and they struggle to learn in just a few days. This is absolutely the reason the show cannot attract the “A-list” celebrities!! Well down the drain, and on the way out, having not reached #1 status at all this season. The justice would be to have Bono or Kardashian win, bad as they are! Kiss ass remarks about Rob K from Carrie Ann are so obvious that she wants in and politically correct remarks about Bono so as not to offend any one are ri1diculous but forever criticizing Hope, Kristen and Chynna so that they got dumped, REALLY?! Bye, bye DWTS

Len Goodman was correct in his appraisal. Toe leads are are a basic and taught in dance 101. Heel leads are always discouraged, they are only used in a couple of steps.

      Baylink | October 25th, 2011 19:06

I want to clarify something here, because what Maks said to Len echoed what I had said, about 15 minutes earlier… and it’s *not* what’s quoted in this story.

What he *said* was, in effect, that *sometimes*, flash and energy is enough to get you by, and sometimes, you just can’t get the points without the hard technical competence — that is, that the judges are being *inconsistent* in their judging from one contestant to the next — possibly skewing a specific direction repeatedly for a given contestant.

The first would be a problem for the show: the second would be a catastrophe, IMHO. That turns it into a personality contest, and that’s what the *calls* are for: the judges are supposed to he *judging*.

Maks, in short, is correct in his assertion, once you figure out what he was actually saying through the just-got-done-dancing-a-lot, the irritated-at-unprofessional-judging and the from-Georgia,-and-he-doesn’t-speak-the-language-very-well.

MAX IS RIGHT – LEN IS WRONG AND SO IS BRUNO!
The standard for each couple seems different.
Max was right – 2 couples can make the same mistake, but only one gets a lower score.
Len even admitted he was a “nit picker.”
Bruno has called Chaz “an ewok” and a “stuffed penguin.”
What does that have to do with his dancing ability?
It takes courage to to do that show.
Max had the graciousness to apologize, something I didn’t from Len.
As for Carrie Ann, Len, & Bruno – RESPECT IS A 2-WAy STREET!
Thank You Max for the courage to saying what needed to be said for a long time.

I am so sick of listening to bruno with all his sexual comments to the women. giving a woman a comment is fine but flat out embarrassing them is discusting. He has got to learn how he can say things and how he cannot. calling chaz bono a pinquine and ewok, he is transgender and already selfconscious and I am sure this has not helped him. I stand behind Maxim 100% because he and Tony Dovaloni are about the only two who will stand up to the judges. Just because they are judges does not give them the right to put people down. To tell hope solo she looks like a man,a she needs to grow some balls is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. And little miss Carrie Ann Inaba who does she think she is, telling maxim to stop being disrespectful while she drools all over the men on the show. telling Kyle Massey that he was her first love of season whatever… The judges want the professionals and the celebrities to be professional well they should practice what they preach… I think Chaz should have left on week 2 on his dance ability alone but was kept because his name was bono, he was transgender and his mom was cher. he cannot dance and should not have stayed…. WAY TO GO MAX AND STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN!

When the dancers perform they obvious want to do their best. The celebrities and pros put a lot of effort into the dance but the celebrities are not pros. When you are sitting at the judge’s table, it is very easy to find fault and point out the faults The show is popular due to audience participation and the stars and dancers putting on a good show so that we will want to watch the next performance and vote for our “favorite” dancer. The show is a success because of the dancers, pros and judges and the hosts and their interaction. Be thankful for the “celebrity attention” being given to you. Criticism is what it is and should be heeded so that the next performance will be a better performance and feelings should be put aside.

Well – Maks is entitled to his opinion, just as we all are. I also think he and the others have a right to voice that opinion. The judges certainly insert insults in their comments (ie – Chas is a penquin). They are the pros and they are working with non-pros. The judges are pros. I like Maks’ contribution; however, it is NOT his show. Also, there is a right way and a wrong way to deliver your opinion and in this case Maks did not choose the right way. Len usually is waving his finger or pencil at someone that he is criticizing or belittling. Bruno just blurts out insulting comparisons. I think everyone needs to take a step back and think how they would feel if they were the victim of public humiliation. I don’t know anyone that likes to have something waved in their face. I think several apologies are due to folks, especially the audience – since they are the ones that keep the show on the air!

Maks is an amazing dancer, he is great at what he does. Maks was not rude to Len at all and I hope that he does not aplologize to him (even though, knowing Maks, I am 100% sure that he will, unfortunately). Chaz does not know hot to dance at all, he should have been gone long time ago, judges are judging stars unfairly. Hope danced so well last nigth, it is pathetic that her score was higher only by 1 point then Chaz’s. It seems like everyone hates the beautiful young females on the show, all the pretty start always go first. All of you Maks haters, stop watching the show if you hate him so much!!! Karina and JR are getting pitty votes. The fact that JR is a veteran does not mean that he should win the show.

Bill McLaughlin, based on your comment: “He should go back to Ukraine where that level of insolence is tolerated,” it seems that you know what is tolerated in the Ukraine, have you been there? Just because Maks was born in Ukraine does not mean he has to go back there, he has freedom to live anywhere he wants just like you!

Deborah, what you said does not make any sense at all: “He was a nobody that became somewhat popular due to this program, period end of sentence.” If Maks was a nobody, he would not be asked to be on the show. Maks has a talent and DWTS saw it, if Maks was not on the show it would not be as entertaining as it is. You are nobody, that is why nobody ever offered you to be on the DWTS.

People, stop hating Maks cuz you are jealous that he is good looking, very successfull and really good at what he does.

Keep up the great job Hope and Maks!!!

So Rita I guess you would be one of those people who believe the celebs deserve everything they get from the judges? The feedback from veiwers seem to agree with Maks! The majority of people on the DWTS board seem to agree with Maks. An on-line paper did a poll and 76% of the voters agreed with Maks. I don’t always see the judges treating the celebs and pro’s with respect. So what, Len has been in the business for 50 years that does not give him license to be cruel or rude to people. Len deserved what he got. Len was upset by the fact that the audience was booing him and got even louder when Maks egged it on. That’s what pissed Len off.

I agree with some of the other comments and disagree with some of them. Maks had a right to speak his mind. This season the judges have been extremely nit picky of certain ones all season and gushing over their favorites. Totally wrong! Maks is not the one that should be asked to leave it’s the judges that should be changed! I agree that Chaz should have been eliminated wks ago but he was trying his best after his big “woops”. There is no call for the judges to ever insult a celebrity the way they did this season. The celebrities don’t do this for a living and they are out of their element….Next season I can guarentee that even if there are celebrities on there that I like and would like to see how they do, I won’t watch if the judges haven’t been changed…they need knew judges and that’s a fact!!

DWTS started out with the pros teaching non-dancers to dance. But lately the judges are judging the pros as well as the celebrities. The name calling by the judges is uncalled for. When Mike Bolton was on DWTS Bruno was so rude to him I am surprised the producers kept Bruno. Len, Carrie Ann and Bruno NEED TO STOP THE NAME CALLING. They need to judge and give construtive critisim. Maks is my favorite dancer and he was correct in bring attention to the judges that they are not judging the way they should be. Some may want Maks off the show for good if he goes then I will not watch anymore. Last year Carrie Ann was so rude to Kirstie Alley I my self want to slap her right out of her chair. Judges, you need to grow up and be more professional. In fact, how about you be the pros next year and Maks, Lacey, and Mark can be the judges.

I am a professional dancer and have been on many judges panels and NEVER have I seen such a disgraceful act of disrespect from any competitor in all my career. If all the judges voted the same way and didn’t offer any constructive criticism I would feel they are not doing their job. That IS their job! That is what they are there for!! Maks needs an attitude adjustment. He has always been obnoxious and obstinate. Example: Dancing topless just because Len made a comment about it one time. Now he goes topless most of the time, even in group numbers when all the other men are in suit & tie. Maks, grab your diaper and pacifier and find the nearest door.

Maks was right. Len and Bruno continually belittle people. This is a show about people who are not dancers, learning and working hard to improve. Constructive criticism is one thing. What Len and Bruno do, is mean spirited and often just cruel. It may be that Maks was a bit over the top, but he was defending Hope, and its about time someone called Len out on his abusive behavior. Obviously Len and Bruno think they are “above” this show, so let em go find other work. I’ve been annoyed with both of them all season. I agree that Chaz can’t dance, but he is one of the most improved people on the show, AND he has shown way more class and courage in taking the low scores and criticism, than either judge. I think there has been enough “contrversy” this season without Len and Bruno’s idiot remarks. Be helpful and honest. There is no call for hurtful.

Interesting that Len and Bruno also judge the same show in the UK and this week one of the professional dancers on that show also had a go at Len for being inconsistent and judging the choreography instead of the celebrity and being rude to the celeb. It seems some of the professional dancers on both shows are getting fed up with the negativity. Len should decide if he wants to judge in the UK or the USA – flying backwards and forwards each week just makes him more and more bad tempered. Stangely, it doesn’t seem to affect Bruno though!

They need to get a new panel of judges. They’re pompous and arrogant. No one watches for the critique; they watch the stars and the performances.
ABC needs to rectify this cancer panel before they become American Idol.

Thank you Max. The judges need to realize who they are judging. They talk about disrespect, what about them. They critique by calling the non-professional dancer flat footed, big feet, time for you to go, penguin etc. That is not constructive criticism. Talk about disrespect.
They like who they like. Just because they are judging does not give them the right to be so crude in there criticism. The non professional dancer is dancing because they wanted the challenge and have fun…I do not feel they are going to leave their profession to become a professional dancer. So they need to be judged fairly and professionally with no name calling and rude remarks. AGAIN MAX THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING UP!!!!

My wife and I have watched DWTS from the very first show; and have enjoyed it tremendously. This is one presentation which brings competition and basic pleasure in an otherwise hectic boring medium. What and why do we watch—The Stars, The Professional Dancers and of course Tom Bergeron! We do not tune in to watch judges. Grab any pro dancer, half baked critic(s) and make them judges, but you need the celebrities and professionals such as Maksim to sustain this show. One thing is unavoidable–These three judges pick their pet favorites and dis those they disfavor.
These judges like to be rude, downright cruel and vicious with their comments but when a professional or contestant comments back, Aninaba inserts “you’re rude, don’t talk to him that way” chastising Maks yet said and has never been heard to say any such thing to her fellows when they make worse comments to contestants or pro dancers. Right on to Maksim!!

I was very upset by Len and Bruno’s inappropriate comments to Hope Solo and Chaz Bono on Season Six. For Len to tell Hope Solo “This is your worst performance of the season” and ….. Bruno’s comment to Chaz Bono that he was “dancing like a penguin” These comments are no longer in the spirit of the show. Where are the constructive criticisms? These comments are unkind and unnecessary to the stars who are not professional dancers. Get real!!

Send Maksim packing. He has started to think he is the star of the show, get a grip on it Maks, you are a dance teacher only. Period. He should learn some humility from someone like JR, the war hero. Maksim, you should just be grateful to be in this country and to be fully employed. When this show started the dancers hardly said a word, but now a few of them, mostly Maksim, think they have the right to speak up too much.

I have watched this show from the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed watching, celebrities who are non dancers agree to LEARN and GROW. I think the judges are right in some of their constructive remarks, but definately not right in belittling those who cannot do any better than they do. They score them according to thier abilities, which is great, but to be rude to a celebrity because they can’t live up to the judges standards is uncalled for. Name calling, for instance, is totally uncalled for. I too believe that Chaz should have been eliminated early on, but for his fan base was allowed to continue. Regardless, rude remarks by the judges is totally not called for. There is a way to let a person know tactfully, that they need more work or perhaps that they just aren’t cut out to be a dancer. Celebrities are just people too, and I have to commend them for putting themselves in a position to be ridiculed, because they are not professional enough. They are very brave to get up in front of millions of people and make a fool of themselves, and they know it when they do, they certainly dont need to be torn apart by the judges words affirming it. It makes me cringe inside when I hear that happening. It makes me not want to watch the show anymore, but I love dancing, especially “ballroom” dancing. I had the privelege to participate in that when I was a young girl and I know the joy of just participating in it, but I also knew when I messed up and didn’t need anyone else to beat me up for it. I already wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.
I agree that there is a time and place for someone to speak out and give their opinion when this happens…and Max was wrong in how and when he did it. He wasn’t wrong in what he said though. This show is supposed to be about non-professionals in dancing, being willing to come on TV in front of their fans and be human and perhaps sometimes to fall on their faces. To try and sometimes fail just because they are human or because they weren’t cut out to dance or because of physical problems beyond their control. But I doubt if many more celebrities are going to want to be willing to volunteer to do this, if they have to be ridiculed by the judges. What about an E for “effort” What about a well done for “improving” The fans can see when a celebrity isnt cutting it and will vote accordingly… I do know that sometimes it takes a little longer for the elimination to happen when a celebrity is very popular, but it comes out in the end. I have yet to see anyone go all the way to the end when they are a poor dancer. I have seen many be eliminated though, by lack of fan votes early when they clearly were better dancers than some who were kept on. There should be a better way to even out the voting. Popularity shouldnt be the main or only reason some are kept on and others let go. It is almost like in other contests, letting all participate when some are younger and some are older, or some have different physical makeups than others, or are in better physical condition. This isn’t dog fight, or a cock fight….This is a show to entertain, but lets keep in mind that we are dealing with human beings, not perfect, professional dancers. The celebrities are professionals in their fields of expertise…let’s treat them with the respect and professionalism they deserve. Just as the judges are professionals at the intricasies of dance and deserve respect for their opinions….and just as the professional dancers are at their crafts. It is very obvious that all of the professional dancers are good at dancing but some are not good at teaching, or at choreographing…they have to deal with the celebrities personalities, moods, bad days, good days, etc… none of it is easy….so they all really need to keep our professionalism in tack when trying to teach others to do what we feel for us is so easy to do. I know that I could not go out and be a quarterback or a professional swimmer or golfer, etc. and maybe I couldn’t compete at dancing as good as the judges or the professional dancers can….but I can guarantee I couldn’t do the job that any of the judges or the professional dancers do either.

Personally, I think the judges themselves are getting carried away and need to get reined back in. If anyone should be fired it should be Bruno. This is not the first season he has gone to far with his comments. This is also the first season where there does seem to be some favoritism gone to the extreme. I commend Maks for standing up for his partner and voicing what many of us are thinking. Maybe it went a bit to far, but if you watch it again.. Len did actually start goding him stating that it WASN’T about what the audience likes or if we cared about their journey. Hello? I thought our votes counted for half? How dare he say that. Maybe Lacey didn’t say anything, but I’m glad she didn’t try to mask her anger. The show needs new judges.

As much as I adore Maks, I do think his comments were a bit overboard. However, I also feel that he was *COMPLETELY* justified in feeling the way he did.

The shoes fit for the character Hope was portraying. Maybe Len needs to go see more Broadway shows (heck, Rent- the show that their song was from- is even available from Blockbuster and Netflix) if he doesn’t understand this.

Len’s judging this entire season has been extremely erratic, and I just don’t understand it. I disagree that Chaz has been coddled- he’s been getting low marks from the judges all along. But the week that Chynna Phillips forgot her routine and basically quit dancing, leaving her partner to actually talk her through the dance as though it was a practice session? Len gave her a SEVEN. How was Hope’s dance this week worse than Chynna’s dance that week? (Len gave Hope a 6 this week.). Of course, I’m still trying to figure out how *all* the judges gave Chynna a 7 that week, but was thankful the public voted to keep other people around.

Someone should check Len’s medications, and make sure he’s taking the right doses of everything. Slap Maks on the wrist for his comments, everyone kiss and make up, and then get back out on the floor and DANCE, DARNIT!

I have been a loyal viewer for the show since season two. I enjoy especially watching Maks perform. He adds humor and entertainment value to the show. Season after season i have watched and heard the judges criticizes his partners performances unfairly. I feel that some of the other professionals are treated better than the others. Len and Bruno are rude and extremely harsh with their comments to some celebrities for example Michael Bolton, Chaz. They laud
celebrities that do not deserve it. They give some celebrities higher marks than they deserve based on their biases towards the professional or the celebrities. If Maks is cut from the show, I will boycott the show as well as the network. Maks, keep being who you are. You stood up against bullying by the judges.Shame on you Len and Bruno. perhaps both of you should find another job, maybe assisting Simon Cowell, you would fit right in with him as you all are bullies.

Bruno owes Chaz an apology. Both Len and Bruno need sensitivity training. Why should a celebrity agree to perform? Note that the fame of the celebrities has decreased. Is it getting harder to get big name stars? Len’s insults are no better than Maks.

Most women I know watch DWTS for the professional men on that show, with in my opinion, Maks being one of the top followed by Mark, Derek, & Tony They take everyday women & transform them into wonderful dancers! They give them guidance & professional dancing advice but also do so much for the womens self esteem & confidence level. These are already professional women but dancing is not their forte. It is time for a brand new batch of judges to add some excitement & change to the show! The judges are starting to let their own personal feelings towards the dancers get in the way They have picked on Tony, Derek, Mark & Maks in the past!!

Max is full of himself and to the public was previously unknown. He is now known and his ability as a dancer is totally eclipsed by his arrogance and his opinion that he is the star of the show. His arrogance is confirmed by his later not understanding that he was wrong and his comments totally inappropriate. He has diminished the entertainment value of the show. He should be fired now and not brought back again.

All of the Judges are OVERRATED! They should eliminate all personal comments! They should score accordingly, Eg: If the Celebrity has anytype of dancing abilities then score off of the Professional that teaches the technique, routine, perfectionalism of the steps so that if they are more talented than the others be tougher on the better dancers to keep the scoring closer to all of them. For instance, Chaz, gave 110% but still could not be as fluid as JR? but give him the improving score that he did deserve and not to always keep the judges low score that they would give him week after week. Question? Why eliminate any of the Celebrities. Keep them on the show entirely and hand out trophys according to the Judges Score and popular vote and the Mirror ball at the end of the season . No one has to leave the show, we all like seeing each improve or fall short each week….

Bruno’s seeming attempt at humor by calling Chaz a penquin and earlier remark about a Star Wars eenok were mean spirited. Chaz did not belong past week one or two, but labeling is disabling Judges should be fair AND constructive. Len did not have to spit out to Hope THIS WAS YOUR WORSE DANCE!. Clearly Hope was more relaxed than before and was doing a decent job to an awful song…seriously, has anyone seen that awful musical? It’s a war protest, anti establishment druggie users BORING musical. How come they did not give RENT to JR? course not! they mis cast Chaz too, although I don’t think he could have pulled off any dance this late in the game. Chaz was clearly tired ot the name calling as well.

One might say that Mak was too outspoken under the circumstances since it disrupted the show–but then again it kept it from being a boring show my friends, hmmmmmm

Why can’t we vote for new judges? Really – we get to vote for the contestants so let us have a say who judges. These judges certainly do not act professional. Carrie Ann votes for whomever moves her (usually a boy toy). Len hates props and will give low points if the team tries to entertain us. Well really.. if you can’t keep up with the times maybe it is time to retire. Bruno…. yikes he acts like he wants to hit on every thing that moves. And he was so cruel to Chaz and did you see his reaction when they replayed the interview of Chaz saying it insulted him. Now I doubt their behavior would be tolerated in a real scenario of professional ballroom dancing. No the judges vote for whomever they like not whoever dances the best. They are part of the fan base. Max needs to learn how to say it better but at least he sticks up for the underdog. I don’t see the other professionals (except Lacey) doing that. No they say “oh darn I shouldn’t say anything, don’t want to jeporadize my standing, forget about my partner”. Good for you Lacey and Maks – someone needs to take care of their non-professional partners.

Was Max rude, assuredly, but does that make him wrong?
I have watched this show from the beginning and the judges are getting beyond what the program is suppose to represent. Novices trying to learn extremely difficult dance programs. Corrective/constructive critism is a learning tool but insulting comments and derogatory statements without benefit of supportive suggestions is a negative factor in any field.
Just what does “not my cup of tea” signify in a dance competition?
Bruno should be called down – a lot – he thinks he is being cute with some of his comments but he is rude and extremely insulting when he does not like a preformer. Kariann can be snippy also when she doesn’t like someone. If you pay attention you can pick these things out and it just escallates to the point that I am surprised that someone hasn’t been sued.

Max is right when he says that this is his show. Not that he owns it, or that it couldn’t exist without him in particular. Without the pro dancers, though, who would the “Stars” dance with, or be taught by? The show could certainly exist without the judges, especially without some of the snide remarks designed to show how witty they are at the expense of the “Stars”… The home audience takes care of the judging. I don’t always agree with the outcome, but it is a popularity contest. The pros must find a way to make their charges the most popular.

Len started this. He has been picking on Hope from day one telling her she wasn’t working hard enough. He told Max not to wave his arms to encourage the crowds booing. Max said the audience loved it, so Len starts with his fifty years experience. These are not professional dancers in a professional ballroom competion. I think Len is bad for the show! Bravo Max for telling him to retire! The only thing Max said out of line is it was his show, which he apologized and corrected. Len so plays favorites, is so out dated he’s not helping the show. I’m really losing interest in this show. I like the other “Dance” show better. Now these are people who live to dance and are not judged as harsh as these none dancers on DWTS. Also, Max and Hope have been given the worst music for the past couple of weeks, whats with that?

This is supposed to be a family entertainment show. While I did like Maks, I believe he has become a very angry and bitter person. He behaved badly last season and this time was just over the top. It is not ok to mouth off to the judges in that way on national tv. He couldn’t have a discussion afterwards? He needs some time off maybe a season or two. He is opening the door for everyone who gets there feelings hurt to be rude and disrespectful. Which some of the other professionals have started doing even last season. If that’s the new forum then cancel the show. That being said, It is time for Chaz to go the judges have been playing nice in order to be politically correct. Hope needs to stop making excuses about not being feminine she’s not the only female athlete that has been on the show. The judges are right on that point. If she doesn’t get over herself she should go next, sorry Maks. Nancy and David came out of their comfort zone and have greatly improved. While the stars are not professional dancers they can still learn basic technique, like pointing toes. The show has become a popularity show and that is just not right. The only real and honest judge there is Len, its ballroom dancing not modern or freestyle. Tony is always over the top extremely rude and nasty and that should not be tolerated either. He should definitely go. DWTS get it together, get new producers, whatever it takes or the end will unfortunately come. I do/did love the show.

I think that Maks was right on, but he should have handled it a little better. Len is too much of purist and perfectionist and needs to loosen up. All three judges can be overly opinionated. Bruno was way out of line in his comments to Chaz. They were tacky and insensitive. I think that the voters have been far too lenient with dancers such as Chaz and Carson. They both should have been voted off along time ago. To keep them on and vote off much better dancers such as Chynna and Kristen is extremely unfair. There needs to be some major changes done in the voting. First and foremost they should be limited to one vote a week. This would eliminate the stupid results. I still love the show and will not stop watching it.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is what it all boils down to this season:

Carrie Ann- lusting after Rob, therefore jealous of Cheryl.
Len- jealous of Maks, needs to have a stick removed (hmmm… sex on a stick, anyone?)
Bruno- lusting after Mark Ballas, Carson, and well, Maks, but doesn’t want to upset Len by admitting to it.

Each season, the show goes down hill, a bit more. Very little constructive critism, but many insults. What reasonably intelligent celebrity wants to subject themselves to personal attacks by the judges. More often than not, the last few years, half of the celebrities dancing are virtual unknowns to most of the watchers. Do you think this may be because many celebrities turn down a chance to dance on the show, because they dont need to be verbally abused by the judges? Verbal abuse is NOT constructive critism.

While Maks is not always my favorite person, I think he was a little wong in telling Len publicly that he was getting old and should retire. However, the rest of his comments, I agree. I think that the judges have been harsh in verbal negative comments about her. I think she has done well with the amount of talent and skills that she possesses. Maks can only do much with the clay that he has been given to shape. Maks is also right when he says that Derek has always been given given favorable and talented persons to have as dance partners, thus he is always going be supportive of the judges. The judges support Derek’s career goals.

Heck we had the Payola scandals in the 50s lol, just replace some radio disc jockeys with a group of one crooked judge , a senile has been, and a bimbo choreographer who has forgotten she is there as window dressing not for her expertise , and we have the same thing! I can’t believe the producers , sponsors, and the net work are allowing it to go on! As for Mr. Goodman, wake up ! At this stage and in view of what is really going on with these “judges” … if I was the pro, I would go out with my partner, do our best for the audience , then simply acknowledge the the applause , and walk off, disregareding the so called ” constructive critisism” , they can tell Tom and Brooke all about it, to hell with em. Hopefully next season a rival network , will create a Dance competition, using some of the Dwts pros, but stocked with highly experienced and competant, teacher /judges, and make the show what it was before.

While I have not always been a great fan of Maks, he absolutely did the right thing in taking on Len. Len started it. Len was WAY out of line in his comments to Max and Hope. If he is going to judge, then judge…don’t belittle the pros and celebrities. Maks was just responding to Len’s rudeness and taking up for Hope. Then Len has the audacity to act as if Maks did something unspeakable! It was high time someone talked back to that bunch of idiots the show calls “judges” – Maks could have been more professional, yes, but his professionalism far exceeded Len’s, Carrie Ann’s and Bruno’s. Len needs to quit badgering Hope. It is clear he’s had it in for her from the beginning…not sure why. Don’t want to see Maks go EVER. Wouldn’t mind at all if any or all of the judges go.

I would love to see the expression on the judges’ faces, if the pro and celebrity walked off without waiting to see what they had to say. Unfortunately, most of the pros are afraid of losing their jobs.

As for what the “italian Fruit Cake” had to say to chaz, is no surprise, Chaz just wasn’t “his darling” lol, that whole judge panel reminds me of the eunuchs in the harem, especially Goodman, ………. they seen it all, know it all…….,, but can’t do a dang thing to help themselves!

If you read all of the comments, you will see that MOST people are losing interest in the show as a result of verbal abuse, and personal insults given by the judges, rather than constructive critism, which is what they are there for (or at least I thought). When judged for IrishStepdancing you are not insulted, the judges notes have constructive comments to improve). Is there a way we can contact the Network or the Powers that be (the sponsors of the show) to have the judges replaced with professionals who offer constructive criticism, rather than abuse? If this were done, perhaps more celebrities would be willing to learn to dance, if they felt they would not be made a laughing stock.

lol It wouldn’t be hard to have the judges do a demo of Irish Step dancing, .. in fact they could become their own River Dance Troupe, .. just shove a poker up each of their butts and turn em loose, Tonioli would probably love it, and ask Len to “judge ” him, and Carrie Ann could prove how “good ” a dancer she is and maybe even manage to justify her existence on the show .!

I saw Carrie Ann very drunk on the Craig Fergusion show. Very obnoxious. I dont see how she can justify her existence in life or on the show.

I’m not surprised the judges were judgemental. They are JUDGES!!! And based on the way I’ve seen Maks disrespect his partners, I’m more surprised that he can’t take the heat. He was way overboard and unprofessional. And Bruno’s comments made sense to me. His point was that the dance didn’t fit Chaz. He said it badly, but I got it. Maks meant to be disrespectful and I’d like him to go. Really.

Get a hold of yourself PeggyQ, are you really that dumb or just stupid. First of all this is a show and show business, the Pro’s are teaching the non-pro’s and they don’t have to accept their involvements with the show but money talks trust me they get a hell of a lot of that green stuff. The judges are there to judge the dances and not the personalities dancing, and those young wooper snappers shall show respect for them Len Goodman was right.
Next Monday night take a nap .
