In 2003, after surviving a tragic land mine explosion while serving the US Army in Iraq, Dancing with the Stars contestant J.R. Martinez, found the strength to continue living his life and admits he is a new and better man because of all he has been through for the past eight years of his life.
The 28 year-old former “All My Children” actor claims the accident did not only changed his appearance, but it has contributed in a major way to what he has become. And J.R. now feels blessed to be alive and claims to be truly happy after finally accepting he is “different”.
“I’m being blessed in so many ways, and it’s because of the energy I’m putting out in the world,” J.R. said. “My life would not be what it is today: full of joy, happiness and positivity.”
“When you show people who you really are and you’re genuine, you don’t have to force positivity,” says J.R.. “I’m not your typical person walking down the street. I’m cool with being different.”
J.R. might not be the typical guy walking down the street, but his “uniqueness”, kind heart and beautiful soul are enchanting the people at home every week on Dancing With The Stars.
The war hero turned soap star and his partner Karina Smirnoff have been working hard and delivering very intense and entertaining performances every week in the competition. We would not be surprised if J.R. took the coveted mirror ball trophy home.
