Maksim Chmerkovskiy Lashes Out at Derek Hough
Boy, Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy has had one heck of a week!
After Maksim lashed out at judges on Monday night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, some of his co-stars like Lacey Schwimmer and Chaz Bono supported his outburst, but other dancing pro Derek Hough seemed to side with the judges.

“Sometimes you do take things personally…I did that one time with Shannon Elizabeth. I went off. And I thought, ‘Oh my goodness, I can’t ever do that again!’ I felt like the judges have been incredibly generous this season so I was surprised,” Derek said.
In an interview on Good Morning America Wednesday, Maksim responded to Derek’s comments. ”Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show. When you say judges have been generous, with all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be very upset with the judges either,” he said.

“One thing I’m not going to embrace is pointing fingers and disrespectful remarks,” Maksim explained. “Why are judges allowed to compare us to animals and point their fingers and we can’t say we’re work and show our opinion?”
Okay. Newsflash, Maksim. You are on a competition show. You are going to be criticized. I’m so sick of your attitude. Good luck getting votes! (and this is coming from a diehard Dancing with the Stars fan)

Derek is a judge on the UK show like Dancing with the Stars, along with Len and Bruno. Of course he is not going to be critical of the judges…..he knows which side of the bread, the butter is on. Derek gets favoritism when celebrities are being matched for competition.
Yes, Maks is on a show that is competition… but, he is also a professional (in this case, in the role of teacher) and it is their option to “defend” their partners if they want to. I, personally, was thrilled that Maks stood-up and defended Hope. Yes, he typically has an attitude ( what is the wrong with that, my family tells ME the same thing) and that he just who he is. Therefore, I am glad that he finally spoke up. The judges think that it is ok for them to make comments ( ex. Bruno’s to Chaz) that are personal and do not pertain to what the dance is being “judged on”, BUT you let one of the pros, in this case Maks, “talk back” and ooooohhhhh!!, that is the cardinal sin, and he should stop being so “disrespectful”!!! Give me a break, this is a TWO-WAY street!

Maks is ignorant based on what comes out of his mouth when he talks. Like the article said, he is on a “COMPETITION” show where the basis of “winning” is remarks and judges scores along with viewer votes so when he says, “I’m tired of being JUDGED” then he needs to find a different format to showcase his talent as a pro dancer and NOT employ himself on a competition show! He’s hilarious and to say he has a bad attitude is an understatement!!! Of course Chaz is going to side with Maks’ remark because he was upset with the judges too. He used animal comparison as the trigger but we all know that Bruno uses animal movements when he critiques he just did not like the type of animal and jumped on that as his chief gripe BUT, we ALL know Chaz was left on the show beyond his abilities after week 1 when he basically walked through his dances and as for the weight issue between men and women, IF Chaz had not been supported by the GL&T community and those of use that don’t care about those things, he would have been voted off after week 1 or 2 with the other heavy men that have been on DWTS in past seasons. Just accept your loss, you get A for effort but move on and LETS vote MAKS off DWTS, sorry Hope but you really don’t deserve the to win and yes, it’s b/c of Maks!!!
I love Derek and Max. They make this show the best!!!!Hope they stay and hope for great careers in show business for they both are talented. I was really ticked last year when Derek was gone but understand like his sister great talent. He could be a movie star so easy.
Derek is the best dancer and choreographer no doubt so do not complain he is the best
Maksim is very cocky and rude. Being related to professionals in the business who can’t stand him or his attitude. I think it’s time to select a new teacher for next season and get rid of the rude, cocky bastard who only cares to make himself look good.
I agree with maks he may have been a little passionate and said too much but he has listened to those 3 judgemental judges a long time and enough is enough, I enjoyed show in beginning but last few years watch to see maks, I vote for him regardless whether I like the star he us with, I don’t think any of the other men could have helped kirstie the way he did, my watching will stop if Maks leaves, shame on judges for being so rude instead of critique they like to say mean things to feel good about themselves and Carrie Ann disrespectful my ………. watch all of the 3 of your comments not just the ones the show thinks is funny………
I think Derek and his sister ae fabulous dancers, and he has a wonderful attitude. You know i think Max thinks Derek always has good partners is because he is a great teacher and makes them work hard and thats is what it takes. Sometime the judges say comments to him too just they tell all the professional dancers. Max gets alot of good partners too, but his attiude isn’t like Dereks, and he is a good dancer too. I think the judges are hard on all of them, I think they expect to much out of the celebrity’s. I think Max’s partner Hope could be a good dancer if she would change her attitude, I don’t think max is the problem its her.
Hopefully they all forget the past and finish the weeks out.
So in keeping score, Maks has blamed his partners for not being good enough and the judges for being rude as reasons why he has not won. How does he explain away the viewers who are not voting for him.
Maks will say anything. Another big mistake, he’s now doing PR damage control. … Maks does blame everyone: 1) It’s the Media distortion! I love Derek. 2) Derek gets better partners — Didn’t he ask for Hope & special arrangements were made in his returning? 3) on Hope’s demoralization — It’s the judges. Nevermind, how I degrade Hope during rehearsals. 4) With his & Brandy’s eliminated despite perfect judges’ scores — it’s the viewers’ sympathetic votes for another couple. … Follow your own words Maks! In previous years on Extra interview, he said: my partner & I would not bring personal issues to the floor. And on Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s walking off, he stated: A profession lose with grace. But we have this drama w/Hope … Maks winning the only way he can — with pop/sympathy vote that he had once argue against. Atleast, Mak’s consistent in his inconsistency. Maks = MAnofKontradictioS. False hero.
Maks had every right to defend himself and Hope against rude comments that had no constructive value. There is nothing constructive about “that was your worst dance of the season”. Professional judges make comments that are constructive and help the contestant improve. Maks is an incredible and amazing dancer, fun to watch, and a big part of the show. He knows as much about dance as anyone, and I respect his comments.
In my opinion, I don’t think Derek’s comments sided with the judges. He said he had felt that way himself in the past, but the judges have been generous to him this season, and he is right. The judges have been generous to him, but not to Maks. Maks and Derek are both amazing dancers, and both deserve high praise.
I totally agree. Derek use to be my favorite dancer but not anymore. He brown-noses the judges and also gets paired with the more experience stars. Not fair at all the way they run that show. This year has been their worst as far as judging goes. Yes they made a fool out of Cher’s son and for that I could care less about them. As for Carrie as a judge, forget it. She acts like a silly school girl with her stupid comments. I still agree with Mak about the way they make fun of some stars and treat the others as if they can’t do no wrong, disgusting. Send those judges in
outer space where they belong. LOL
Yes, they are on a competition show, they should expect to be judged on their dancing ~ since it is a dancing show. But dissrespectful remarks about the person and/or personal traits or issues is not ok. It is never ok for anyone to be dissrespectful to another human being. Oh, and Maksim didn’t lash out at Derek Hough any more than Derek Hough lashed out at him. They each stated their opinions. I think Maksim will still get votes from fans, and warranted votes for his and Hope’s performances.
Name calling isn’t necessay at dancing with the stars . But going after other dancers shouldn’t be necessary either that isn’t gettingit settled .I just want to watch the people dance and learn what they came there for .So lets put this in Gods hands and get over it so we can watch what we turned on our T>V> for .I enjoy watching it but not so much anymore with all this nasty stuff and name calling .there was no reason for that Brono .Yes ou our judges but lets be a little bit nicer if POSSIBLE.
Derrick is absolutely the best instructor, and he gets the most out of his dancers. Unfortunately, Maksim is all about sex, and now that he mouthed off I beleive Hope,
has no HOPE! I agree the jusdges get unusually critical, and say some cruel things,
and this should not happen. Everyone is trying very hard, and unfortunately some of
the points they are giving to people that should have gone off the show, are uncalled for.
Nancy should be thrown out especially about her remark last week about JR and being a
veteran. He surely, is one of the top contenders, and she is just being drug sround the
floor by her instructor. SINCE THIS IS A DANCE CONTEST AND NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST

I am so glad Max made the remark about Derek. When you star in a movie called “Dirty Dancing” you are certainly a professional dancer. When Derek had Jennifer Grey as his partner I quit watching the show because it was no longer a contest. They were the best I’m sure as 2 professionals should have been.Rickey Lake began her career on broadway in a musical. Did you ever see a musical without dancing.That makes her a professional. And of course this year they did an evening of broadway. I did not know that Derek was on another show with 2 of the judges. That certainly explains why they treat him so favorably. He is a good dancer but not half as good as Derek. The show was great when it began, but every year it loses some of its integrity. I am watching it so I can vote for JR, a true amateur and one who has given to this country more than the judges ever could. After this year I’m done with the show. Three cheers for 2 1/2 Men.
I agree. The name calling and crude comments are getting out of hand by the judges. I respect Len for what he does but sometimes he is just downright rude and insulting to people. It is not necessary. You can comment on someone’s performance without putting them down. I think Maks had every right for taking up for Hope. Len puts her down a lot and truthfully I don’t think it has anything to do with Hope. I think that him and Maks have some kind of issue that has just been brewing. I also think that you are incorrect and are just trying to get something started by saying that Maks was lashing out at Derek. I do not feel he was doing that at all. I agree, he was just stating his opinion. I think the dancers are all great dancers but I do agree that the playing field is not even. Derek does get paired alot with people that has had some sort of dancing experience in their past. I think Derek is a wonderful dancer but it would be nice to see him get paired with someone that has absolutely no dancing experience. For instance, Nancy Grace. Even though she is not the best dancer out there, it has amazed me how she has come. I will continue to watch the show because I love the dancing but I will just continue to DVR it so that I can just skip the crude comments and insults. They are getting rather old and will eventually ruin the show if the judges are not careful.
Don’t be sick of Maks attitude! How can everyone love him all these seasons and because he has a comment back to the judge then turn on him. It is true, he is to be judged on the show…..but the judges are suppose to be judging each couple on how they performed a peticular dance. Not be calling names like penquins, etc and telling hope they would like to work with her on her walk! Did anyone notice how irritated Maks got with that statement? He said “I am working on dancing not her walk”. It is my opinion that the judges need to check themselfs and stop judging on energy, charisma, etc! People, that is why Maks is upset! And he didn’t mean….it’s my show! You all know him well enough to know that he was trying to say his heart is in the show totally, he has helped build it too from the ground up, he is proud to be part of it, but when your heart is that into it there is the opportunity for heartbreak. He expects the stars that get teamed with him to do one thing and one thing alone…….listen so you can do. I would be upset too if I had to spend hours and hours going over the same thing. All his partner has to do is listen and follow along. Don’t judge him for having too much heart in it! I LOVE MAKS!!!!! Don’t blame him for being disappointed in the judges and their nasty remarks this season. Especially the ones about Chaz!
I think the judge Len is awful and he says he has done this for 50 years??? It’s time for him to go he is spoiling the show.
Maksim Chmerkovsky owes Len and Derek an apology, plus his partner. He has a problem with his temper and needs to take time off and see a therapist. Dancing is to be fun and there will be criticism but there is a proper way so not to discourage the couple, it should be done to help them.
Sure hope next season Len and Maksim are gone as I will no longer vote for Maksim and zip through Len’s comments, he is really rude.
