Former Disney star Selena Gomez allegedly broke up with her boyfriend, teen superstar Justin Bieber, in the wake of a paternity lawsuit which unveiled a major backstage sex scandal.

Selena was heartbroken when she learned a 20 year-old woman, Mariah Yeater, claimed to have taken Justin’s virginity and to have given birth to his first child, a 3 month-old boy named Tristyn Anthony Markhouse Yeater.

According to RadarOnline, “Selena ended it abruptly. She broke the news to Justin just in the past 24 hours.” Of course, Justin’s camp is doing everything in their power to make sure Selena stands by Justin during this whole ordeal, while the “Baby” singer promises his girlfriend there’s absolutely no truth to the woman’s allegations.

“His camp is in damage control mode and attempting to convince her to stick around in the relationship for a few more weeks, because they fear it will be seen as an admission that something indeed took place between Justin and the woman who is alleging that he’s the father of her baby,” the source added.

Selena’s rep told reports of the split are untrue. For now, Justin and Selena are still very much in love and together. The lovebirds will most likely make a public appearance together at the 2011 MTV EMAs, hosted by Selena, in Belfast on Sunday (November 6).
