Katie Couric is single and ready to mingle!

The 54 year-old journalist and her much younger boyfriend Brooks Perlin have reportedly broken up and he is moving out of Katie’s Upper East Side home after dating for more than five years.

Apparently Brooks and Katie’s relationship had been rocky for months when he first started looking for a new place. However they still decided to give themselves another chance, trying to make things work, but they had already grown apart.

A source told the NY Post:

“They have decided to move on. Brooks is a great person and a real gentleman; he and Katie enjoyed their time together. But after five years, they have decided it was time to go their separate ways. Brooks is in the process of moving out of her home.”

“Three months ago, Brooks was looking for a broker to find a new place to live. He stopped looking because they decided they were going to try to make things work.”

Katie, who lost her husband Jay Monahan to colon cancer in 1998, met Brooks at an event to raise money for cancer research back in 2006.

In May, Katie had hinted there was trouble in paradise when she told People, “I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life . . . but it is complicated.”

Meanwhile, Katie Couric is busy preparing for the debut of her syndicated daytime talk show on ABC in September 2012.
