Simon Cowell’s girl Melanie Amaro delivered another killer vocal performance of the classic “Hero” by Mariah Carey during a night with two rounds of performances (the Pepsi Challenge and mentors’ choice) at the big “The X-Factor” semi-finals live show on Wednesday (December 14)- watch video below.

Vocally perfect, but I really didn’t feel it. This is a painfully emotional song, it should be sung with soul. Melanie just looked a bit cold and detached. Oh. L.A. Reid basically expressed my thoughts exactly, saying he did not hear her usual passion. Nicole Scherzinger might have just became a useless prop at that judges/mentors’ table.

“You are liberating to all of us,” babbles Nicole. Paula Abdul invited one of the co-writers of that song to be in the audience, but confessed she did not appreciate the twist Simon Cowell put on it. Melanie’s mentor said that was bloody memorable fantastic.
