Heartbreaking news for Selena Gomez who sounded genuinely excited to became a big sister. The singer’s mother, Mandy Dawn Teefey, who was expecting a baby with Selena’s stepdad, Brian Teefey, suffered a miscarriage, which forced Selena to cancel two holiday-themed concerts.

The 19 year-old learned the tragic news while she was attending the at the Power 106’s Cali Christmas in Los Angeles on Friday night (December 16). Selena immediately left the show and headed home to offer her support to her mother.

Selena cited a “family emergency” as the reason to cancel her appearances at the B96 Jingle Bash in Chicago on Saturday (Dec 17) and at 106.1 KIIS FM’s Jingle Bell Bash in Seattle on Sunday (Dec 18). The Seattle show was postponed because OneRepublic also had to cancel, but there is no word if Selena will actually perform.
