The final three contestants, Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene, will compete for the first The X Factor USA title in an intense finale night of performances for America’s vote tonight.

During The X Factor finale press conference the finalists drew cards to decide the performance order. Josh will kick off the show, Chris will follow, and Melanie gets the final word, which should give her some sort of leverage.

The three contestants revealed what type of record they want to put out if they win the $5 million recording contract. Melanie is all about “big ballads and dance songs,” Josh promised to include “a big rock song, a soul song, a ballad,” while Chris goes for a mix of “hip-pop, rock and soul.”

Judge L.A. Reid praised the finalists for their talent and uniqueness. “I’m really proud of the top three. They’re all amazingly talented and unique in their own right. They have a distinct competitive advantage: big on talent and loads of charisma,” he said.

Simon Cowell promised it would be the “the greatest finale ever, in terms of talent” and revealed the contestants would perform duets with superstar acts during the big live performances show on Wednesday (December 21).

Justin Bieber, Leona Lewis, the most prominent winner of UK’s X Factor, Pitbull and Ne-Yo are confirmed presences in the final results show on Thursday (December 22), during which the first winner of The X Factor USA will be crowned.
