The winner of the first season of The X Factor USA will be crowned during a special results show on Thursday (December 22). Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik are the three final contestants competing for the $5 million recording deal and a chance to be the star of a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial next year.

Who Should Win? And Who Will Win?

Melanie Amaro has proven to be the best singer in the competition, but she lacks a certain “je ne sais quois” that an X Factor winner should have. The diva will most likely take the crown tonight. Chris Rene might have no chance.

On the other hand, Josh Krajcik (my favorite!) is super talented and the one who would benefit the most if crowned the X Factor winner. The soulful rocker is not exactly a commercial artist, but there’s a niche for him. Chris and Melanie could be easily manufactured.

This will be a very long night with a very difficult decision. Bumpshack readers also believe Melanie will be winner (approximately 40%). Chris and Josh are named the winners by approximately 30% each (check Bumpshack‘s poll here). Close call. Tough decision.

UPDATE: Steve Jones introduces the judges and the final 12 contestants. The Top 12 perform “The Edge Of Glory.” Wow. They are butchering this Lady GaGa song. Good job! Chris Rene was just painful.

UPDATE 2: This is a holiday themed results show. Melanie Amaro sings “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Melanie is surprised with a video of several people she knows sending their support. First awkward moment of the night for Steve Jones. The X Factor host just doesn’t know how to deal with emotional people.

UPDATE 3: Chris Rene singing a Christmas song – “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. This guy is really not the best singer in the world. Blah. Chris is a hero and he is inspirational and all that. Ugh. Stop it already. Chris is a recovering alcoholic. He didn’t save the world.

UPDATE 4: Josh Krajcik takes over the stage, he owns it, he kills it. I love him! Simon Cowell predicts Josh will sell a lot of records. Nicole Scherzinger replies: “From Simon’s lips to God’s ears!” Josh is so not crying!

UPDATE 5: Justin Bieber performs! Stevie Wonder joins Bieber on stage to sing the “Christmas Song“. Justin is now singing “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town“. Drew Ryniewicz joined her idol to sing one little line. She was totally freaking out.

UPDATE 6: The 3rd place will be announced. And the 3rd place goes to…  Chris Rene. Yep, Bumpshack readers were right. Chris Rene finishes on 3rd place. Good luck, Chris.

UPDATE 7: The Top 5 most shocking moments of the season. Rachel Crow‘s elimination is #1. Rachel introduced UK’s X Factor winner Leona Lewis, who sings “Run.”

UPDATE 8: The Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid smackdown video plays before 50 Cent takes over the stage. X Factor’s little rapper Astro joins 50 Cent on stage. Ah. Nicole Scherzinger vs. Paula Abdul tear down. Nicole WON!

UPDATE 9: Pitbull and Ne-Yo perform. Marcus Canty joins them on stage. The Final 2, Melanie Amaro and Josh Krajcik, perform a duet. That was beautiful. Way to kill the mood, Steve Jones!

UPDATE 10: This is IT. Melanie Amaro vs. Josh Krajcik. And the winner is… Melanie Amaro. Josh Krajcik is the runner-up. Congrats to both. Hope to hear a whole lot more from Josh.
