Controversial figure skating champ, Johnny Weir, is a happily married man after he finally tied the knot with his boyfriend, Victor Voronov, in an intimate ceremony in New York City on December 30, 2011.

Johnny’s rep said in a statement: “The couple exchanged handwritten vows in the company of loving parents, Tony and Lili Voronov and Patti and John Weir. The couple has taken the new surname, Weir-Voronov, but professionally, Johnny will continue to be known as Johnny Weir.”

The 27 year-old former Skating With The Stars judge announced the big news on Twitter. Johnny also promised to celebrate his wedding in a more proper matter with a big party this summer.

Johnny tweeted, “I’m married! Wedding in summer! But all the official stuff is done now! No more livin’ in sin!” Adding, “Johnny and Victor will have a large wedding in July 2012 to celebrate with friends and family.”

The statement in itself is controversial since gay marriage is considered sinful to pretty much every religion out there. But who cares when it’s true love. If Kim Kardashian can ‘sham’ a marriage, why can’t two people in love also have the right to get married no matter the gender, religion or social status.

“Marrying Victor has been the greatest moment in my life and I will work very hard to make him proud and happy,” Johnny said in a statement. “As an added benefit to all this joy, marriage gives your skin an amazing glow. I look forward to making a home for my family in Bergen County, New Jersey, and introducing my world of glitter and Faberge eggs to Victor.”

“I am so happy to have found my match. Finding someone to share your life with is one of the most important things a human can do and was preached to me by my mother. Victor is the epitome of a gentleman, as handsome as he is clever and loving. Our road to marriage has been a fast one, but one I never waivered on. I am honored to have been married in the great state of New York, and I hope more states pass laws allowing all Americans to be united through love and marriage.”

Victor Voronov says: “Getting married to Johnny has been the greatest experience of my life. He is the most wonderful, caring and nurturing person – and I can be guaranteed of one thing – with Johnny, I will never be bored. The support from my friends and family has been overwhelming and I am looking forward to beginning my life with the most incredible person I have ever known.”

Aw. There’s no doubt Johnny is madly in love, and Victor is also head over heels. We cannot wait for the big wedding celebration. And we wish Johnny and Victor live happily ever after.
