Miami Heat star LeBron James finally went down on one knee to propose to his high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson during a party to celebrate the New Year and his own 27th birthday at the Shelborne hotel in South Beach over the weekend.

Sixty special guests, including Chris Bosh, Queen Latifah and Dwayne Wade and his girlfriend actress Gabrielle Union, witnessed the proposal. LeBron and Savannah’s two children, 7 year-old LeBron Jr. and 4 year-old Bryce, were also present for the special occasion in their parents’ lives.

“It was beautiful,” Heat teammate Chris Bosh said. “It was nice. It was real nice.”

“A special night,” Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Savannah wasted no time to flash the absolutely stunning engagement ring – a pear-shaped diamond flanked by two glimmering baguettes -, which should be worth approximately $250,000 – $300,000. It’s pretty cheap for someone who is expected to earn $16 million this season, if you ask me.
