Ricky Gervais‘ hosting skills at the Golden Globes were lacking, as usual. But he packed his usual punch, slamming celebrities like Kim Kardashian, calling the reality star a “trashier” version of Royal newlywed Kate Middleton.

Gervais started out criticizing the awards show for being smaller than the Oscars. “The Golden Globes are just like the Oscars but without all that esteem,” he said, going on to prove his point by bring up two of the most talked about women this year.

“The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton,” he said. “A bit louder. A bit trashier. A bit drunker and more easily bought — allegedly!”

That was a little harsh. Especially coming from a real drunk.
