Music mogul Clive Davis paid tribute to Whitney Houston by saying a few words and asking with a “heavy heart†for a moment of silence at his annual pre-Grammy gala, which the late singer was due to attend, on Saturday (February 11).
“Whitney was so full of life. She was so looking forward to tonight,” Davis said. “She loved music and loved this night that celebrated music. Whitney would have asked that the music go on. And her family said the show should go on.”
The show must go on. Performing at the event were Tony Bennett, Diana Krall and Diddy. They all had something to say. “First Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse and now Whitney,” Bennett said before advocating the legalization of drugs.
“Whenever you saw Whitney, she hit you with that beautiful smile,” Diddy said. “If we truly believe in God, then we should celebrate the life of Whitney Houston tonight.”
