“To be in one of her favorite places with her family has made for a dream wedding. It’s been an absolutely beautiful day,” her spokesperson, Chris Thomas, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She is positively radiant. And Matthew couldn’t be happier.”
Matthew and Elizabeth, who had been dating for over a year, were planning to marry in a big summer wedding, but the bride decided to anticipate the wedding date in order to be able to have a more private soirée.
“Elizabeth’s desire was for what most women want—to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends,” Smart’s rep revealed to E! News. “After the story broke about her engagement and the media became increasingly invasive, Elizabeth recognized it was going to be impossible to have a traditional wedding devoid of distractions and unusual challenges outside of her control. She decided, about a week ago, the best way to avoid significant distraction was to change her wedding plans and to get married in an unscheduled ceremony outside of Utah.”
The lovebirds will spend a romantic honeymoon at an undisclosed location, before they settle down in Salt Lake City, Utah. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
