Actor Gerard Butler is reportedly being treated for substance abuse, more specifically prescribed analgesics, at the Betty Ford Center. Gerard is expected to leave the treatment facility later today (Friday, February 24), after three weeks of treatment.

Gerard’s substance abuse started due to the physical demands of his role in the movie “300” back in 2006, but it escaladed after a surfing accident when shooting “Of Men and Mavericks” a couple of months ago.

The 42 year-old had been struggling with pain management for years before he realized he needed professional help. Gerard also had some issues with cocaine, but his main problem was related to injuries and how to control the pain.
