Caterina Scorsone & Rob Giles Are Pregnant
“Private Practice” star Caterina Scorsone, who plays Dr. Amelia Shepherd on the show, and her musician husband, The Rescues’ Rob Giles, have confirmed they are expecting their first child. The baby is due this summer.
“We’re over the moon,” Caterina tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m starting to show now. Everybody on set has been pretty sweet and is offering me fruit.”
The 30 year-old revealed Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes was inspired by her pregnancy to come up with a different storyline for her character, who had went to rehab after hitting rock bottom following the death of a good friend.
“The news came out of left field and I think she decided she could use this for dramatic purposes,” jokes Caterina. “As an actress it never feels like the right time. But once we knew what was happening we were like, ‘This is perfect.’”
“Shonda was immediately excited and talked about what we could do when the baby came so [he or she] could be on set,” she continues. “She’s been unbelievably supportive.”
Congratulations to Caterina and Rob!
