President Obama Still Thinks Kanye West is a ‘Jackass’

President Barack Obama in a lengthy article in The Atlantic by David Samuels on Kanye West states that he’d go with Jay-Z over Kanye.
When Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift during an acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Music Awards the President, in an interview with CNBC stated:
“The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She’s getting her award. What’s he doing up there? He’s a jackass.”
In The Atlantic piece about Kanye, the President had some kind words to say about West. Obama states that Kanye is “very talented” and “smart.”
However, he went on to reiterate to Samuels in the magazine:
“He is a jackass,” Obama says, in his likable and perfectly balanced modern-professorial voice. “But he’s talented.” The president gives a wink, poses for a few more pictures, and then glides away to meet with the rich Manhattan lawyers in the other room, leaving behind a verdict that he intended to be funny, and also entirely deliberate: even before an audience of one, the leader of the free world is still not letting Kanye West off the hook.
