Kate Middleton, who celebrates her one year anniversary with Prince William today, spent time away from the elegant lifestyle of a royal volunteering with scouts in Anglesey earlier this week.

Middleton, 30, was a Brownie with her sister Pippa as a child, and she’s kept her promise to do charity work with the scouts group.

“She’s used her experience as a sailor to help them with knotting,” a local scouting source told reporters. “She’s been involved in managing games and joining in art and crafts activities. … We also pitched tents indoors in one of the sessions, and she remembered pitching tents.”

“She’s clearly getting a lot out of it,” the source added. “Everybody’s taken to her well. I don’t know anybody who would not take to her well. She’s a very nice personality. She’s showing that even very busy people can find some time in their diaries to help out in a volunteering capacity.”

Is there anything better than a princess hanging out with scouts? Don’t think so.
